Hi there, From my understanding, it is quite common to ruminate in thoughts about our personal struggles. Sometimes, when we struggle with our mental health, it can be all that we think about. It is absolutely normal to do this, even though it isn't always the most healthy option for us. Being able to get out of that headspace by doing an activity we enjoy, and spending time with friends or loved ones, can help get us out of that ruminating state so we can find balance in life - focusing on our mental health and our struggles when necessary, and finding joy in other areas of life.

I get a little obsessive over my mental illness. I feel like if I know it inside and out maybe I can get better. I try to work with it as much as I can. I think sometimes it’s better to just step back, but sometimes it is appropriate to really dig into healing your mental pain. Hopefully if you have mental illness you also have a therapist who can guide you through this healing journey, because it’s harder to do with no professional experience. I would say if the obsession is making your mental safe seem permanently worse, maybe try to focus on something else. If it’s helping in any way, let yourself do it. Either way, be gentle with yourself. All of your thoughts and actions are valid and perfect. You’re doing the best you can.

hi! I feel like this is completely normal as it personally affects you, your body and your health. People should not be downplaying others mental illness's as they have no idea what that person is going through, everyone goes through different stuff at different levels of intensity. Mental health is an extremely important aspect of your life and you should be taking care of it. Sometimes doing your favorite thing helps, many people find working on themselves e.g. yoga or working out helps them a lot as in these times they can have some well needed alone time with music perhaps
