Panic attacks run in my family. I have no idea if this could be genetic of not but my Father, Sister and I all have struggled severely with panic attacks. I never struggled with being forces to sleep. Certainly struggled with the motivation of wanting get out of bed but never feeling like I had to sleep due to a panic attack. In my opinion I don't believe you are having a panic attacks. But perhaps you are dealing with a lot of stress or pressure. Maybe even depression. Mental illness has so many faces. The best thing to do is to remove the clutter in your life. Keep things cleaned and organized. Exercise regularly and cross things off of your to do list. Do leave things pending. They can really pile up quickly.
Panic attacks are predictable, epecially if you experience them often, and it's completely normal to feel tired or drained after you experience one. Sleeping is a great way to recharge and help yourself feel better later on. As for you sleeping 6-8 hours, that's also normal. A good night's sleep or even a long nap means you're taking the time to better care for yourself, and allowing your mind and body to rest is an important part of feeling better. I find that most panic attacks can also be fueled by other internal factors like sleep deprivation or exhaustion, so sleeping really is a sure fire means of feeling better!
