Most scars take weeks to months to fade away naturally, if you'd like to be secretive over your scarring you should make sure to prevent any more wounding and taking care of any recent or old scars you have on your skin. There are some over-the-counter creams that can help with scars, as well as exfoliation and moisturizing at least 2-3 times per week on the affected areas. If any of these methods don't show any visible results, I'd recommend using makeup to cover the markings and/or using certain types of clothing that can hide the areas. Have a great time, I hope it all goes well :)

It really depends on the depth and extent of the scarring. It also depends where they are - consider using bio oil or other creams that restore elasticity to the skin, it'll help them fade! You could also cover them up with long sleeves, long pants, etc. I know it can be dumb because you just want to get out in the sun, but it's a sacrifice you'll have to make if you *really* don't want your mum to know. Finally, my last suggestion is to just think about telling her. I know it's a terrifying concept, but there's a huge possibility that she will understand, or be willing to learn. I hope you're staying safe, good luck.

Your self harm scars will not fade within a matter of a few months. Unfortunately, it will take years for them to fade. In the meantime, if you feel the need to hide them, you can go to a department store or a pharmacy and buy some concealer cream. Depending on the strength of the cream, you may be able to fully cover up the scar and no one will notice or know unless you tell them. Some creams do not always cover everything as the scar is too deep or new. Facing self harm is never easy. You should be proud of yourself in this instance though - you have reached out and asked for advice/help/other people's thoughts. That takes guts. Please be more kind to yourself and give yourself a big pat on the back after reading this :)

Hi darling. First of all, I'm sorry that you are going through this. I guess by your question that your family doesn't know that you self harm. I know you are terrified, it is something really personal and it is scary to show people that you are going through this, but maybe, if you talk to them before going and explain them what it going on, how do you feel, why you do it, maybe their answer is way different that what you think it would be. If you don't want to talk to them maybe you can try to hide them with a wristband. I hope you get better, please feel free to message me anytime!!!
