You should see a doctor if the self harm is opened wide, you see yellow fatty tissue, or if it seems infected (warm to the touch, red around it, oozing, or discolored)
Thank you for asking such an important question! Even in the midst of struggles like self harm, self care is still so important. First of all, it is very important to clean any wounds with peroxide or alcohol, and then bandage them up if the supplies to do so is available. If these precautions are taken, add with any other wound, healing should take place normally. However, any discoloration, leaking of puss or yellow liquid, excessive swelling, etc. should be carefully monitored, and extra attention should be given. If such problems persist with little or no improvement, setting a doctor would be the wisest choice. Better safe than sorry. Thank your again for asking such an important question!
