When you find out people self-harm, just ask them if they self-harm and about the scars. Don't be too full on because they (out of personal experience) might feel intimidated or scared. Try suggesting mycompass.com. This website is very helpful. you put in entries on how you are feeling and you can try exercises that limit depression or unhelpful thinking. You can also tell an authoritative figure about the persons cutting. But that is the last resort. They could feel pressured and lie, run away or cut even more. Cutting can be related to depression. so get help for them.
