I get extremely nervous when I have to do things alone. I am even afraid to join book clubs, college courses or any other type of social activities without my friends or boyfriend. What should I do?

There can be many reasons for being anxious about doing things alone- especially going to social events where we can possibly feel getting in the spotlight. Social anxiety, avoidant personality disorder, codependency, agoraphobia, and many more reasons can be behind this anxiety. I personally was very afraid of attending my classes at my grad level, where I used to feel in the middle of a bunch of strangers every single day. Later I was diagnosed with AvPD and my therapist had to do a lot of hard work just to get me to attend classes. So, here, the most important thing is a diagnosis by a professional on mental health or a therapist. You will be able to follow a guideline on what you should do only if you come to know what you have. Although we cannot guide you saying what you should do, we can let you know that you are not alone. Love.
