Emily Fortuna, MA

Licensed Professional Counselor

About

As humans, it's common to get stuck in patterns and rely on the same beliefs and behaviors, even when we know they're not healthy for us.  This is why I try to integrate a mindfulness approach when working with individuals.  Simply put, being mindful is paying attention to your experience in the here-and-now without projecting a judgment or assumption.  It is learning how to slow down and observe body sensations, emotions, and thoughts without producing an automatic reaction.  Refining one’s mindfulness skills can elicit great calm and clarity and reveal wisdom within ourselves that we consciously or subconsciously tune out.  These skills can also help make decisions that are more intentional and healthy for you.  If we work together, we'll collaborate to find your own wisdom and ultimately help you make better decisions for your own health and those of your relationships.
