I know from family, friends and clients how overwhelming and confusing it can be when you are trying to find help. It is my goal to be as transparent as possible about the therapeutic process and what it would look like to work with me so that you can determine if we'd be a good fit. It is a brave step you are taking--seeking help so that you get more enjoyment out of your one life--I do not want feelings of overwhelm to get in the way of someone taking that first step towards a more peaceful life.
I have a strong commitment to evidence based treatments--it is not enough for therapy to FEEL good in the short term, it must WORK and be effective in the long term. As such, I use a cognitive behavioral approach with a preference for skill building so that you feel equipped to manage stress, be effective interpersonally, and find acceptance and contentment within you.
My clients describe me as being warm, enthusiastic, nonjudgmental, curious, emotive and direct. Clients who choose to work with me want to take an active role in therapy--together we make goals, choose next steps, and measure our progress to make sure that our time together is working for YOU.
Lastly, I want to say that I'm very optimistic that relief, acceptance, contentment and joy are possible for everyone. Whether you've had some unfortunate life circumstances or are biologically-wired to be prone to anxiety and depression, clinical researchers have developed some amazing and effective therapies/skills to help you feel better.
