Mark Harrison, MSW, LICSW, PIP

Clinical Social Work/Therapist

About

Hello and welcome. I’m honored to be part of your healing process. Reaching out can sometimes seem intimidating and overwhelming at first but I invite you into therapy with an open mind, warm positive regard, and no judgement. My style is collaborative, supportive, and compassionate. Together, we will work to examine your issues and develop purposeful goals that produce positive and long-lasting results while never throwing common sense out the proverbial window.

I have experience dealing with a variety of issues including depression, anxiety disorders, adjustment disorders, relationship problems, family conflict, grief and loss, codependency, addiction recovery, and much more. I have specialized training in the treatment of trauma. I’m open to working with all age groups and populations. You can go on down to read more in the “background” section if you like but it’s not really about me – it’s about you. What would you like to talk about today?

Background

I am a licensed independent clinical social worker (LICSW) and private independent practitioner (PIP) who makes my home on a scenic farm in northeast Alabama, relatively near the Alabama/Georgia/Tennessee state borders.

I earned my Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Alabama. I also hold a Bachelor of Science from Troy University in social sciences (with a concentration in psychology), and a Bachelor of Art from Jacksonville State University in English composition and communication, literature and languages. I am currently working towards completion of a doctorate relating to individual and family therapy.

Professional and academic memberships include the National Association of Social Workers, the Clinical Social Work Association, the Psi Chapter of the Phi Alpha Honor Society, the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, and the Golden Key International Honor Society. I’m dedicated to research based, best-practice methods and continuing professional development.

Very indepth and caring
Incredible therapist. He gave me all the tools I needed to move forward. If you want something more than general talk therapy, I highly recommend Mark!
Mark is the most amazing therapist I have ever had. He really gets to know you and the insight and advice he offers is tailored to where you are on your journey. I feel a huge sense of closure about my past, now that I have shared my story with someone who is aware. Thank you Mark for sharing your knowledge and empathy with me, and helping me work through a lot of inner demons. I'll always be grateful for having met you!
