Leadership Spotlight: ReganL

...See more It’s always a special treat to get to highlight the greatness that happens on our teen side, and this month I have the pleasure of spotlighting an exceptional teen leader: @ReganL! Regan is a passionate advocate of listener learning (check out their many excellent forum posts in their bio) and encouraging ATL and teen bonding. Regan is known for their presence in Teen Listeners Room and for hosting some cool Cookie Parties. From the nominator: They really care about teen listener room and they went above and beyond to keep the room safe and active. They moved up the ranks roles in tl very fast but I know they go far in the l rooms. I see the same dedication. In their student Support room supporter role. This listener shows the same kindness and support they show in. Teen listener room. They really take time make each person room feel cared. I can tell they would be a good m room mod one day. This listener should get this honor for all the hard work they do. A couple special mentions: “oRegano is one of the most amazing teen leaders we have, they are so thoughtful, cheerful, caring and kind. There is always fun to be had around them and they have such a comfortable presence. When oRegano is in the rooms, you can always count on them being attentive, welcoming and of course, collect that blessed cookie tax from us oldies. They are so inspiring in all the work that they do here on Cups, they truly care for this community and it shows - AnnaSilverberg” “Regan!! So so excited that you are this month's spotlight leader because you're so so so amazing!! From being so supportive in TL, to being an awesome Teen Star, to all the amazing work you do with Care Team and everything in between, no one deserves this more!! You are such a light to the community and Cups is so lucky to have you with us! Congratulations Regan and keep being who you are!! We love you! - LittleBirdie30” What motivates you to be a volunteer here at 7cups Helping others! I may not be the oldest listener here however I am reminded everyday it doesn’t matter how little or big something is as everything had the potential to make an impact on someone. Giving someone a space to share, be themselves, and just able to be heard is a wonderful thing I love being able to do. I focus a lot of my time on listener related stuff or hosting sessions in some of the teen rooms. The rooms coming alive during a sessions popping with teens always bring me so much energy. Also being able to spend time with some many listeners and contact with them as been something has had brought me this far. I remember being new and knowing nothing now as a mentor I get to lend a helping hand to other teens that need a little help. Your proudest 7cups achievement Becoming a teen star (chatroom mentor) ⭐ It is a rather common fact that I can be found hanging around TL a lot of the time and becoming a teen star was a magical thing for me. Being able to give mentor such an amazing room and know one way or another I am making a difference in someone’s day by just being there and having a conversation with them makes being a teen star amazing. Which 7cups leaders to you admire? Any of them that come to teenie town 😛 Overtime I may or may not have been known to be an ATL magnet known for slugging in and out of oldies PM’s during my slugging around TL and PM’s I have come across many oldies that have helped me become the teenie I am today. However in honor of my amazing teens here I would like to recognize them ⭐ @CallumCares421 (Cal Cal) Cal is an amazing wonderful teenie! I am so thankful to be able to mentor TL next to them ❤️ we became teen starts around the same time as each other and from that point Cal has gone above and beyond supporting fellow listeners in TL they also helped create the idea for meet the teens! @tuffattack (tuff) Tuff brings so many enjoying conversations to TL including our attempts at TL study time which really never happens. Tuff like many teens here leave a wonderful impact on many who they come across. @Violetnotes (Violet) as @Hope would say Violet is the other resident teen in TL. Violet always has a positive rays to TL and all the listeners in there. They are always welcoming new listeners in and peeking in while doing some studying to have some fun as well! @ArcadianSage (Sage) I am very thankful to be able to work with Sage on a few of the teams I work for. Sage has always been someone I looked up to from the start she has helped me out in so many different ways! @Antonio7cups (ant 🐜) Ant is an amazing teenie who works their hardest not only in TL but being a mentor in their community and staring kahoots here at 7cups. I admire them most for their ability to mod in the newbie hub that is no doubt can be a challenge I do have one ATL (oldie) I would like to recognize though 😛 @CommunitymodIris (Iris) When I first met Iris she scared me (and yes she knows this!) overtime I warmed up to iris. Over my time at 7cups iris has given many reminders over self care but has also taught me many of my mod skills I know today. She has always come dashing over to a room or PM’s when I need anything she truly is a wonderful role model for me. Piece of advice for my fellow teenies: Teenie town is a small powerful community! Look around you, everyone with a badge or role here is as important and wonderful as someone who is brand new. They are rather fancy and shiny badges and roles however take your time to explore this site there are so many wonderful communities to be a part of find what brings you joy. No matter what you do with your time here you are an amazing teenie and don’t be afraid to reach out to teen mentors, peer support, or chat support for help along your way, we don’t bite (well I may a little 😛) but we all want to help you shine bright! What’s next for your 7cups journey? I think there is one correct answer here, spreading Reganese 😛 if not that convincing one of the admin to make me a cookie party room  😃 However I am looking at becoming a global mod as well as a group support mentor for student support. Time shall tell where I take these ideas but whatever comes nexts I know will be filled with cookies and amazing teenies! 🍪 🍪 🍪 Thanks for all the cool stuff you do, Regan! 🍪 🍪 🍪 - Community, it's your turn to leave some cookies for Regan in the replies!
April 2024 Global Volunteer Month: Let's Talk Self-Care
Positivity & Gratitude / by Heather225

...See more Hi, everyone! It’s Global Volunteer Month [https://www.7cups.com/forum/siteupdates/EventsDiscussions_2666/AprilisGlobalVolunteerMonthCelebratingour7CupsCommunity_326954/] and I’m here to talk about one of the most important aspects of sustainable volunteering: self-care! Volunteering is a rewarding experience, but it's important to remember that you can't pour from an empty cup. Just like putting on your own oxygen mask before helping others on an airplane, prioritizing self-care is essential. As they say, “self-care is not an expense, but an investment.” Here are some things to remember when giving your time and energy to our beautiful community: * Set Boundaries: Be clear about your time commitment and stick to it. Don't feel obligated to take on more than you can comfortably handle. Don’t overcommit. * Mind Your Wellbeing: Volunteering can expose you to challenging situations. It's okay to say "no" to specific tasks or take a mental break if needed.  * Nurture Your Passions: Schedule time for activities you enjoy outside of volunteering. This could be anything from reading a book to spending time in nature – recharge your batteries with activities that bring you joy. * Connect with Others: You have a built-in support system in our community. If you’re a listener and need to unload after a difficult chat or discuss listening challenges, reach out to a Peer Supporter. Here’s what they do and how to connect with them! [https://www.7cups.com/forum/listenerjourney/General_2422/PeerSupportFAQHowToConnect_327368/] * If you’re in a leadership position, know that you can take time away from it at any point. Simply communicate this with the respective head of the program/project. We also understand that life happens! The beauty of volunteering is if you need to go for a while, you can always return to us. * Burnout is real. If you ever feel you are at risk of burnout, or just want to learn about what it is, this is one of our best resources for understanding and preventing burnout in growth path form. [https://www.7cups.com/path/playlist/preventing-burnout-at-7-cups/] Lastly, here's our listener resources masterlist, including an entire section dedicated to boundaries and self-care! [https://www.7cups.com/forum/listenerjourney/ListenerResourcesMockChatGuides_2381/ListenerResourcesMasterListForumLibrary_228279/] And remember, it’s okay to put yourself first. It’s not selfish—it’s actually necessary to maintain good health so you can be at your best. What are your favorite self-care practices as a volunteer to stay balanced and energized? Share your tips and tricks in the comments below, or link to any helpful resources you've found within the 7 Cups community (forum posts, guides, etc.)  Let's keep this conversation going and support each other in prioritizing self-care!

Interviewing our Leaders - AnnaSilverberg!
Community Projects & Events / by Heather225

...See more It's my turn and honor to interview the interviewer! She's the orchestrator of the Interviewing our Leaders Series - @AnnaSilverberg! Anna is a Quality Ambassador who collaborates with @EvelyneRose on driving the Quality Mentor Program and specializes in all things new listeners! How did you find Cups? I wanted to provide some support in a positive way and turned to Google to help me search. I had heard it often that it was good to talk to me and I wanted to be able to give my support to more people, to help others feel less alone in this big world that we’re in. So, when I saw Cups, I signed up and started my listener journey. I am very glad that I did, because I am a part of an amazingly magical community of wonderful people.  What do you do on Cups? I do a little bit of everything, I am an Ambassador & Evelyne’s assistant. I focus mostly on our Quality Mentors and newbie and listener quality in general, help out with making Cups a safe place to be in. I focus on bringing important information to our listeners, either through Forum posts or in the Listener Support Room (LSR). I am also a Smile Spreader, an ATL (Adult Teen Listener), Peer & Chat Supporter and  a Quality Mentor for both adults and teens. A Quality Mentor Leader for the Anonymous Evaluations team and a Global Moderator for our chat rooms. As well as being the unofficial 7Cups librarian 😛 How do you like to start your day? I love to start the day with a cup of coffee and write in my Gratitude journal. Putting my focus on the positive things in life is a wonderful way to start the day What is your most favorite weekend activity? Going to the dog park with my dogs or a walk, I also like visiting family and friends for sure.  How important is self-care to you? It is as important as breathing! Self-care is our way to make sure that we are feeling balanced and are taking care of our mental and emotional wellbeing. What motivates you? Projects, tasks and to do lists. I love it when I have things to do, it’s kind of a fuel for me. I like being busy, my ADHD thrives on it.  If you could be an animal, what would you be and why? Definitely an Orca, they are intelligent and have a community amongst themselves. They are emotional creatures for sure and do like to have the occasional fun. Team Coffee or Team Tea? Coffee, always coffee What is your greatest strength? Hmm, I’d say my positivity and empathy. I do love focusing on opportunities and to provide support. If you could do one good thing today, what would it be? I would let the people around me know how much I appreciate them. Sometimes we get so lost in our everyday life that we forget to show our gratitude to the ones around us. We are all struggling in one way or another and having someone letting us know that they see us and that they appreciate us is a wonderful feeling to have.  What act of kindness, that you have either seen or done, is one that has stayed with you? Oh wow, I have seen and experienced so many that it’s hard to choose one. If I’m choosing, then I’d say seeing all the listeners who provide their valuable time here on Cups. Just the fact that you are here, volunteering your time to support others is absolutely amazing. Our members are also so supportive to one another and seeing all of this just absolutely warms my heart <3 That is something that stays with me everytime I see it, because it’s truly magical!  If you could add one thing to Cups, what would it be? Hmm, I would add more games in 1:1 chats. We have “4 in a row” already, I would love to see some more of that 😀 What’s your least favorite daily task? Doing laundry, I am brilliant at forgetting that I’m doing it and end up having to make the washing machine go another cycle because of my forgetfulness What’s your favorite season of the year and why? Autumn, all the magical colors is something that brings me joy! Do you have a favorite hobby? I like drawing a lot, some listeners like it as well since they have my artwork as their profile photos. That makes me so happy, to see that they like my work to that degree is simply amazing! I also like photography and consider myself a hobby photographer. My favorite thing to photograph is the beautiful nature that you can see here in Iceland and my pets.  What is the weirdest food combination that you like? I’ve been told quite often that my liking of ketchup on pasta is odd. I don’t think it is though and love having pasta or noodles with ketchup 😂 If you could share some kind words with the community, what would those be? Thank you for being here, just the fact that you logged on today and spent your valuable time with us is amazing! We all face challenges, we all have our struggles and that’s okay. Sometimes just taking one day at a time is the best thing we can do and I want you to know that’s okay. It’s okay to not be okay. All of our feelings, no matter what they are, are absolutely valid. Take the time you need to self-care, it’s so important to take care of ourselves. Self care doesn’t have to be complicated, just simple tasks like getting dressed and taking 10 minutes to do something you enjoy doing is wonderful. Thank you for being a part of this community, we value you, we appreciate you and we are grateful for you. I wish you all a wonderful rest of your day 💗 ✨ ✨ ✨  Thank you for all you do to inspire and uplift our community, Anna!

So giving of their time. It was nice to see them today on site. I know they have a lot of duties and obligations, they must do, but still they were able to spend some time with members. What an amazing person.
H is thoughtful and insightful, and able to solve things efficiently.
An amazing person. Cares about others feelings, not too many of those left and admits when things do not go according to plain, not too many of those left either.
