There are many places you can find this information. Here, I have compiled some good guides and instructions I found through a simple Google search, one of which is a government endorsed website. http://www.mayoclinic.org/first-aid, http://www.webmd.com/first-aid/, http://m.medlineplus.gov/firstaid.html

You local health authority is usually a good starting point. Depending on what type of information you are looking for they will likely be able to point you in the right direction. Hospitals, doctors offices, and first-aid training centers are good places as well. If you are in need of medical attention DO NOT WAIT. Call your local emergency number or go to your local emergency department.

The best place to find first-aid information is from your doctor or hospitals, but you can also use a very trust worthy website as well if there's something you'd prefer not to do. However if you feel you have something (mental illness, a disease, etc.) please do not self diagnose, go to your doctor.

A really good website for first aid information is the st Johns ambulance website. It has lots of information about different techniques for different emergencies. Alternatively you could try to find courses in your area.

The red cross has classes. You can also buy educational books or emergency medicine textbooks geared towards teaching basic first aid. I'm an EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) so I learned first aid during my training. I also learned that there is first-aid training that most police officers and firefighters have to have at a bare minimum in the United States. This training is available to anyone in the general public. What you can do is take a class to become an EMR (Emergency Medical Responder). They are someone who knows how to do advanced first-aid. So you'll learn stuff like CPR and AED use as well. If you are in another country, they may have similar first-aid training available to the general public. You can also order supplies you will need to administer first-aid. You'll probably want stuff like gloves, a pocket mask, bandages/dressings and maybe even sterile saline at the minimum. You really only need that and a cell phone but you could also throw in additional miscellaneous stuff like a pair of trauma sheers (special scissors that cut through clothes), possibly a tourniquet, special types of dressings, an AED...etc. OH, also, roller gauze (great for wrapping stuff) and tape and a pen/marker could prove to be useful.

You can go to any reliable website such as American Red Cross, or even Google and find websites that end in .org or .edu in order to ensure that they are reliable. A personal favorite reliable site of mine is Mayo Clinic. If this is an emergency, however, I would suggest calling someone for help. First aid is something that's done for a wound or injury that can be classified to be minor. If you feel that the wound or injury at hand is in fact NOT minor, seek help! I hope this was helpful and that you are able to get the help that you need.
