About

Congratulations on taking this first step. I know it can be HUGE for some individuals to even consider therapy, let alone take action steps towards participating in therapy. You're already well on your way!

I have been helping both men and women for a combined experience of over 10 years. I have worked in a variety of settings, including working with families, children, couples and incarcerated individuals. I have helped people with many different issues, including those that are considered general reasons for therapy, including anxiety, panic disorder and stress.

My specialty areas of therapy are in addiction recovery and in eating disorders. I am certified in treating eating disorders and am also well trained in treating addiction problems. I work with individuals who struggle with food obsession, weight concerns, body image issues, self esteem issues, substance abuse issues and anxiety and those who often state that they "feel crazy" around food. It is my goal to work with clients to learn intuitive (mindful) eating techniques, decrease disordered eating behaviors (such as counting calories) and to learn how to accept and have peace with their body.

For substance abuse clients, I often approach addiction from an empathetic perspective. I view addiction in the well-researched disease model, in that the individual struggling with abuse is someone that HAS a disease and not someone who IS diseased. For those struggling with addiction, they face a number of issues, including social stigma. I practice compassion and understanding, while also providing direct and firm insight for guidance.

The most encouraging words I can offer someone considering therapy for the first time, is to remember that therapy is a process. Just like with changes you make to your daily life, such as adapting to a new schedule or a new job, therapy takes time. Change is often uncomfortable, sometimes unpleasant, but oh so rewarding! If you're comfortable where you are, then you're likely not changing. Let me help you grow!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you will reach out!
