🌈 LGBTQIA+ FRIENDS YOU ARE WELCOME HERE

Hey! I'm Tova ✨

I’m a kinda ratchet, neurodivergent Midwestern girl with a big heart, a sarcastic sense of humor, and a whole lot of lived experience. I’m a work in progress, a survivor, a recovering addict and alcoholic, a mom, a nerd, a fabulous bestie, and someone who genuinely believes that our mess can become our message. ❤️

One of the things I love most is mentoring other listeners and helping them achieve their 7 Cups goals. I adore listening, and I believe that sometimes having someone who truly listens, understands, and doesn’t judge can make all the difference.

I’m also the proud Mom of a neurodivergent son, and I’m 16 years sober from alcoholism and drug addiction. These days, my full-time job is going to Spravato treatments, doing the hard work of healing my treatment-resistant depression, and continuing to work on myself. My dream full-time job is becoming a Peer Support Specialist/Recovery Specialist so I can use my education and what I’ve learned to help others find their way through recovery and life. I’m also a makeup artist and skincare expert, musician, computer nerd, Star Wars geek, Trekkie, bestie to kitties everywhere, and a famous chef… at least in my own mind. 😂

I'm always looking for Cups friends! Message me!

🌟 Listener Safety Discussion: Sexual Topics 🌟
Safety & Knowledge at 7 Cups / by TovaCares76
Last post
Friday
...See more Hello, Listener Friends! 💙 Next Thursday, I will be hosting a discussion about something I know many listeners have questions about: taking chats that involve sexual topics.  I’ve noticed that some listeners aren’t always sure how to approach these chats. What is okay to engage with, where to set boundaries, when a conversation crosses a line, and what to do when you’re simply not comfortable continuing the chat. 📅 Thursday, September 17th ⏰ 2:00 PM EST 📍 Listener Discussion Room This discussion will be a chance for us to share experiences, talk through different situations, and discuss ways to protect our own boundaries while still providing a supportive experience for our members. We can also talk about recognizing situations that may require ending a chat or getting additional support. ⚠️ Please Note: This discussion will involve sensitive topics. Please take care of yourself and participate only if you feel comfortable doing so. The goal isn’t to tell anyone that there is one “right” way to handle every situation. Instead, it’s about learning from each other and becoming more confident in making safe, comfortable choices when these conversations come up  I hope to see you there! 🌸

Friends Become Our Chosen Family

...See more I was working on a friendship bracelet today and noticed this sticker on the clipboard I attach my bracelet to.  This is huge to me right now. I'm in very little contact with my family, by choice, and it has been the BEST thing for me! I love my family, but it got old hearing about how the movies I like are terrible, how the music I like is awful, why don't I ever do this like I used to, why am I making that decision in my life. I'm sure a lot of you can relate! The lovely thing about getting older is that yes, our blood relatives are still special, but our REAL families we create. My besties, my sobriety girls, my church friends, my volunteer mates, even my ex-husband, all my family. I now choose who gets close access to me! This is the gift we all get in life!  Who is in your family?

Meet Chapi, my emotional support friend!
Depression Support / by TovaCares76

...See more I'd like to introduce you to Chapi, my Purrble! I got him for Christmas in 2024 when I needed something to help regulate emotions at a time when i couldn't have a pet. I found this, put it on my Christmas list and was pleasantly surprised to find my sister had bought him for me! He comes around the house with me on off days and he just started traveling with me to Spravato! Here's more information on what a Purrble is! Purrble is a small interactive stuffed animal designed to help people self-regulate their emotions and calm down when they're feeling overwhelmed. It looks like a cute little gerbil and responds to how you interact with it.  You hold and pet it, which can help give you something physical to focus on. When Chapi is upset, his heartbeat and sounds become faster. Petting and cuddling him slowly helps calm him down, and his heartbeat gradually slows. He makes little purring and contented sounds when he becomes relaxed. The interaction encourages me to slow my own breathing and movements as I help him calm down. People might use a Purrble as an emotional support or self-soothing tool for things like: - Anxiety or feeling overwhelmed - Stress - Loneliness - Trouble settling down at night - Emotional overload - Needing comfort after a difficult day - Having something comforting to hold or       cuddle - Grounding yourself when your thoughts are racing It's so nice because it doesn't require you to talk, explain what's wrong, or figure out exactly what you're feeling. You can simply pick it up and interact with it. And there's something kind of special about the fact that you're not just being told “calm down.” Instead, you have a little furbaby that needs you to help it calm down. That can give your attention somewhere gentle to go when you're struggling!  Although Purrble is a therapeutic/interactive plushie rather than a living animal, it's deliberately designed to create a feeling of companionship. The sounds, heartbeat, hands-on interaction, and cute fuzzy little body can make it feel like you're caring for a real pet. For someone who finds comfort in stuffed animals or has an emotional-support object, that can make Purrble much more meaningful than an ordinary plushie. And hey, it's also completely okay for an adult to have one. There's nothing childish about using a physical object to help regulate your emotions. Adults use weighted blankets, fidget objects, stuffed animals, sensory items, calming scents, and countless other things for the same basic reason: they provide a tangible source of comfort when emotions become difficult to manage. They've also made a huge difference with lonely senior citizens!  Would you benefit from a Purrble? What do you find yourself reaching for during times of emotional stress?  Purrbles are sold out on their website but I'm pretty sure i got mine on Amazon!

✨🎉🎂🥳 Happy Birthday Ruben470! ✨🎉🎂🥳

...See more A fellow listener and very good friend of mine has a birthday today!  If you haven't had the pleasure of meeting him, @Ruben470 is a listener and Peer Supporter here on Cups. He is one of the most positive people I've ever met. He's kind, caring, empathetic and very sensitive to a lot of societal issues. If you ever see him with his light on green, grab him up for a chat. He's a fabulous listener, especially with women and women's issues. He's also a fabulous friend. We were just chatting one day when I told him about my Spravato treatments, and how important it is for my neuroplasticity that I remain positive and open on those days. He took in it upon himself to be my positivity reminder. He seems me reminders on those days to take care of myself and remain open. I don't have anyone else in my life that took it upon themselves to be interested in that, so that friendship means a lot to me! Ruben has a lot of exciting things happening in his life right now and I'm more than excited to see how things turn out! Ruben, thank you for being such a great asset to 7Cups. Your patience, positivity, and deep empathy is something other listeners, including myself, should strive for. Your friendship means the world to me and I hope you know I'm here cheering you on just the same as you do me! 💙 Happy birthday, Ruru! Things are just starting to get good, and they're gonna keep getting even better!! 🎉🥳🪅
