This can be PMS, and it is when you have mood swings before your period If this is relly severe, you could have PMDS which is a disorder and you can be given hormoone control pills to help try talking to your doctor about it

Most girls and women experience mood swings. It is completely normal. Some get grumpy, while others could have a sad feeling.

Premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) is a condition in which a woman has severe depression symptoms, irritability, and tension before menstruation. The symptoms of PMDD are more severe than those seen with premenstrual syndrome (PMS). PMS refers to a wide range of physical or emotional symptoms that typically occur about 5 to 11 days before a woman starts her monthly menstrual cycle. The symptoms usually stop when, or shortly after, her period begins.

From experience, it's an emotional unbalance. I've been able to recognize the signs and deal with them so I can get through it

The hormones in your body are all over the place. It's natural and happens to most women. During that time, try not to make any decisions that you'll regret later on

Probably from the hormones, like how some of us are apparently very hostile or very dramatic and mean.

I'm not sure why you feel depressed after your period. Maybe something that happened before on your period could have triggered this reoccurring state of depression. Consulting a doctor or professional therapist would be better.

Period depression is most likely a cause of imbalanced hormones. This happens to me often because all of the body is changing, and sometimes things will be imbalanced. It is not your fault, but a hormone imbalance.

Periods can cause chemical imbalances, which can cause mood swings! That could be the reason why you feel upset before and/or during your period.

It's all hormones girl! Every girl has different reactions to the burst of chemicals into our brains so this is just what happens to you. I have a friend who has something called Premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) which might be an explanation if your depression is severe. It might sound scary but I promise you it's nothing but a fancy-schmancy name for feeling very depressed before your period.

I think this is something a lot of woman experience! My guess would be that it has something to do with fluctuating hormones!

The hormones involved when you're having your period or just before can trigger a whirlwind of emotions and one of those can cause the feeling of intense sadness. It is entirely normal but if you feel the sadness no longer lifts after your period, you may be falling into depression that's not caused by hormonal activity, in which you should see a doctor about.

That's because of your Pre menstrual syndrome. Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) refers to physical and emotional symptoms that occur in the one to two weeks before a woman's period. Symptoms often vary between women and resolve around the start of bleeding. Common symptoms include acne, tender breasts, bloating, feeling tired, irritability, and mood changes. Often symptoms are present for around six days. A woman's pattern of symptoms may change over time.[

It's normal to have the blues or feel sick before and during a period. As hormone levels rise and fall during a girl's menstrual cycle, it can affect the way she feels, both physically and emotionally. This is known as premenstrual syndrome, or PMS, and it can make a girl feel like hiding in bed with the covers over her head.

i reach my period very irregularly but whenever i reach it, i suffer incredibly bad mood swings and I get very annoyed very easily, and it sucks because i take it out on people and I feel really bad about it after I've calmed down.

Before your period, your hormone level drops significantly, making you feel more depressed before your period actually begins.

Period is when a women goes through hormonal and physical changes. When the hormonal changes are in progress so comes the mood swings.

Because of your hormones going all over the place, it isn't uncommon to feel sad before your period. It's also possible that you may have PMDD, Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder, which is like situational depression that centers around your period. You could talk to your doctor about this disorder and treatments. On your own, you could try exercising, yoga, hot tea or other relaxing activities that release those feel-good endorphins.

A lot of girls experience this , including me :) I have been told that it is a chemical imbalance in the brain and something to do with the hormones :) google it for more information.

Most likely because of hormonal changes. I am not a doctor, however that would be my best guess. If you are grossly concerned about it, talk with your doctor as soon as you can.

The hormones that are released into your body before/during your period affect everyone differently. A very common one is depression. Just try and remember that it is just the hormones thinking!

Your body releases a lot of hormones before and during your time of the month and can lead to you feeling depressed.

To be honest the average answer is mostly that your hormones mess with you. It's a time of change - your body has got so much to do so you'll stay ok! But moreover I'd say that all the insecurities that come along with that drag us down as well. Feeling uncomfortable in your own body since you could say there's something "dying" inside. And the fear that someone might notice that (smell, stains, etc.). Mostly you can say good-bye to your pure skin over that time, too, so you don't feel like going out at all which can put you down horribly.
