...See more Creativity is a part of being human and what essentially makes us so much more beautiful. To express one's ideas and thoughts fully through any medium available to man. It adds a depth in our life and lets us connect with others in deeper, more meaningful ways. As an artist and a poet, I know firsthand how powerful having a creative outlet can be for a person to be fully human, fully oneself. When I am immersed in my craft, doing the thing I love, it makes me feel truly alive. It feels my cup when the world tries to empty it through the constant expectation to be productive and produce results that are acceptable by the society. In a sense it feels rebellious, It energizes me. But in the same sense, not everyone has the means to nurture and express their creativity into the world. Either through family, society or one's own perception of what is acceptable of oneself, the creativity often gets suppressed. Or for others, because of mental or chronic illnesses, it is not accessible for them to be able to be creative. Can you think of a time when creativity made a big difference in your life or helped you through a challenge? Or What do you do to keep the creative spark alive even when life gets in the way?

A Reflection on Empathy and Compassion and the lack of it

...See more Empathy and Compassion Empathy may seem like an innate human trait that everyone has. But that is not entirely true. And it is when the absence of said empathy that we can truly appreciate empathy at its truest form. It allows us to connect and understand another person other than ourselves by actively putting ourselves in their shoes and trying to live their experience, trying to grasp how they might be feeling.  Now one may suffer from the lack of empathy for a number of reasons, such as trauma, emotional neglect, personality disorders, etc., and we need to be more mindful of how to navigate interactions with such individuals while also keeping ourselves safe. Compassion takes it a step further in the understanding and to be actively present and respond to others' sufferings with kindness and the desire to help them, not for getting something in return, but to be there for someone who needs a shoulder for support. It brings a sort of warmth to people, where their world may be feeling cold in their suffering. But through all of these, we also have to prioritize our own mental health and be kinder to ourselves, showing ourselves the same compassion we aim to show others. Do you actively show yourself the same compassion you show others?
