...See more I am new here, straight male. I am friends with a woman whom I knew 10+ years ago and it ended in acrimony. We kind of got back in touch by accident a couple of years ago. There has never been anything really romantic. Right now, this friendship is causing me a lot of anxiety. We were supposed to meet recently, but she was too sick. She texted me today and has confused me. She said she had "stopped contacting people" as she was sick, and had family and financial issues. Naturally, I am sympathetic to these, but when something is causing you pain...the whole interaction is so stilted because of our health issues (more hers tbh) and I am feeling the urge right now to ditch her. It just feels like it is doing no-one any good. I also feel she may want this but is not sure. I suspect the anxiety will subside in due course if we just leave it. I am not planning to contact her. She may contact me, though, and at that point, I will tell her how I feel, if I still feel the same way. But right now, when she has told me she is so low and I have already replied to tell her OK, let me know if you want to meet...it feels mean and looks indecisive. I just have bad anxiety, and this seems the quickest way out of it.
