I'm a nerdy introvert, and probably somewhere on the mildly asexual spectrum. It took me some time as an adolescent and young adult to get comfortable in my own skin, to find the right places to live and to build friendships and relationships that worked for me. I'm not currently in a romantic relationship but do have a family of sorts: for many years I was the primary caregiver for a friend struggling with physical and mental health issues. She is now doing somewhat better and has a husband and family of her own but still considers me family. I am a vegetarian with a strong set of religious and spiritual practices, and I do believe that things in life have a purpose, but it's personal to me and not something I always discuss; many of my best friends are meat eaters, secular or practice other religions. I am quite comfortable with paradox. Friends and colleagues seek out my opinions and consider me a good listener, despite or perhaps because of the fact that I often have to ask a lot of background questions.
