Just wanted to share something that could help with anyone struggling with how to full your time when overcome with overthinking and non stop daydreaming or racing thoughts and another way of expressing your emotions or struggles, especially struggling with art block. As for the past month, I've been writing a fictional story that I'll probably make a series of different paintings, drawings, fashion, etc depicting the story whether it be narrative, still life, abstract, etc while the story is being imagined as a film. You don't need to do hardcore research yet if needed if you don't know where to start, what time or place the story begins, just think where your character begins (the character can especially be yourself mainly with the same problems you've faced and can add whatever fits you, whether it be the fashion, hairstyle, unique features, anything that makes yourself recognizable on the character while the character is their own person, so you think of their future as if it were yours in that world your character lives in). Already thought of it's sequel? Write that as if you're manifesting your future or present life. As for other characters, you can absolutely build them by pieces of yourself (personality wise lol) to create villians, friends, side characters, etc. If you especially love movies such as I :), make a list of films that have influenced you to create the story as well as a list of music to help you motivate your mind and imagine your story clearer as you think of each scenario and what's in your world of the story. My story is mainly horror fantasy but you can choose whatever genre or how you what your "movie" to be shot (unless you really passionate about making movies yourself, can't wait to see your movie in theaters if you do end up making it public!) With writing the story, I would daydream constantly during my commutes to work to where I would try my best to jot down bits of scenarios or ideas that would appear in my mind even beyond my control as I think hard on the storyline as if it were a memory of my own while even listening to music. So that later on, you can hop on your typewriter (or computer) and start typing what you've got to sort it all out. You can also have a section where there can be different parts of a situation if you don't know what choice to pick for what's next, such as good/bad endings, if the character chooses revenge or love, three scenarios of a scene with the same outcome and the list can go on as you can stop on it later and continue what ever else happens in your story. DONT push yourself, you will absolutely have a even better clearer idea or insight in the morning after sleeping the good 5 hour hard focus writing. You can sort it all out while be proud of how much you've created in your mind that you might have almost created a novel summary. Speaking of summaries, a title is a MUST especially if the title is the importance of what makes the character who they are towards the end before going to do your "movie" description, Summary (long or short), character sheet, scenes in order, Script/Screenplay, and why is this made? Page. On the very end, you can have a "About the Artist/Director/whatever title" page if you want to separate yourself from the character and think more on your creative progress and about yourself. With fine art, writing is very important and less used unless noticed on masterpieces yet is essential when putting ideas and explaining the art for those who don't understand it visually yet admire it. Overall, writing and traditional art can benefit each other while films are both writing and visual art. How? A film with absolutely no dialogue, talking, in full color can have the viewer curious and tell the other person what they think, seen, or describe how they saw the film compared to whether the other person sees the same or different til the director or whoever made the film decides to explain the film themselves to the audience for better understanding while in the end of the day, it's just a masterpiece created for the choice of the audience to see and admire. hope this helps! 🦇✨️
