Let's Make Friends: The Recipe!
Friendship Support / by Bryghton

...See more Hello everyone! Bry here, your new Forum Supporter for the Friendship Support community. Now, why did I choose friendship? Because I think this is the best place for us to learn all about it. Friendship is not just having the same interests or sharing funny jokes; it’s also a place where you can have a sense of belonging. Now, we often ask: How do I make friends? Don’t worry, I’ve got ya. I’ve got my recipe right here: The Ingredients: * 1 cup of books and TV series (so we have things to bond over). * 1/2 cup of jokes and laughs (because it’s fun!). * A pinch of shared interests (just enough to get conversations started). * 1 heaping tablespoon of vulnerability (let people see the real you). * An unlimited amount of showing up for each other every time. * (And a secret ingredient... Hint: It’s you!) Instructions: * Combine your amazing self with someone else’s space. * Remember not to overheat, or it’ll burn and smell bad! Don’t rush the process; let the trust simmer over time. * The Taste Test: Friendship will always be good, even with "weird" flavors that don’t fit their personality. Important Note: If you have to change your ingredients to fit their pot, it’s not the right recipe. ------------------------- What is YOUR Friendship Recipe? 🍲 We all have different tastes when it comes to connection. I want to hear from you: Give 1 or more ingredients you’d want in your friendship recipe. Why do you think that would make it good? 1, 2, 3 Cook! 🫂

Am I Toxic? Or just Drowning?

...See more Have you ever had a friend who supported through all your struggles, but suddenly they started pulling away for their own good? Have you ever felt ashamed, feeling like a burden because you're too much for your love ones and now they left to help themselves from you? Now you’re left with the original struggle, the new shame of being 'too much,' and the weight of carrying it all alone. What are you now? The Victim who's broken down by their struggles or The Villain who pushed a person to their limit? The answer? NEITHER. You're just someone who's struggling that a friendship/relationship alone can't support.  It's easy to feel like you've been discarded. But truth is: You are a person trying to heal in a place that didn't have the right equipment. We often ask the people who's willing to be our therapists, our crisis lines, our entire system. But one person can't be all of that for us. We don't mean to, but when we're drowning, we grab onto whatever is closest. Remember: * YOU ARE NOT UNWORTHY OF LOVE. Them leaving is not a sign that you are unworthy. It's a sign that you need a different kind of help that a friendship/relationship was never meant to provide. * THE SILENCE IS NOT A SENTENCE. A friend needing space isn't a permanent judgment on who you are. It’s a temporary boundary set to preserve what’s left of the connection. * YOUR STRUGGLE IS REAL, NOT A "CHOICE." You didn't choose to have a pain so big it overwhelmed a friend. Just because they reached their limit doesn't mean you were "doing too much" on purpose—it means the situation was simply bigger than the two of you. * GRIEF AND PROGRESS CAN COEXIST. It’s okay to be heartbroken about losing that specific support while simultaneously being proud of yourself for still moving forward. You can miss them and still be capable of healing. * HEALING IS A NATURAL CAPACITY, NOT A REWARD. You haven't lost your ability to be a healthy friend; you are simply in a period where your energy is being used for survival. That capacity is still there, waiting for you. If you are reading this and feeling like a burden: You are not a burden, you are a human carrying a heavy load. If the person holding the other end of the rope has to let go to catch their breath, don't let that be the reason you fall. Look for the net that was built to catch you.

Feeling 'Useless'? You're Probably A Mola Mola
Positivity & Gratitude / by Bryghton

...See more Hello everyone. It's me again with some random thoughts and facts I just wanna share because I can't sleep. Ever heard of a 🐟Sunfish (or Mola Mola)? 🐟 It is dubbed the most useless fish in the ocean. It can't swim fast, it has no tail, it just drift in the surface. It has skin so thick it can't be even food to anyone. It has no use to anyone, fish or humans, whatsoever. 🤷 And yet, it still exist to this day. It still managed to populate even after all these years. You would think that a fish like that would go extinct millions ago. But it didn't. See, the best it's done is the Sunfish is just being a Sunfish. It uses it's own 'uselessness' to live and survive the harsh ocean. ------------------------- 💭 Thick skin? Great, I can't become food. Time to make 3 million babies.😄 💭 Why swim when the current could take me instead? 😎 - The Sunfish, probably 🐟💭 ------------------------- If you ever think to yourself you're useless, or anyone else calls you that, because you struggle to keep up or perform like everyone else, remember the Mola Mola. ✨ Your worth isn't define by how much you swim or how much you do. Sometimes, just existing and enduring in a world that doesn't understand your design is your greatest strength. ✨ Stop trying to be a shark when you were born to be a Mola Mola. Living strong is the best defense in life. ------------------------- Fun fact: Mola Molas can grow to be over 2,000kg. They prove that you can become a giant in this world just by eating jellyfish and minding your own business. You don't have to hunt to grow. ------------------------- If you made it this far, great. Now you know about Mola Mola and hopefully you know you're not actually useless. ------------------------- Random stuffs is random. Because who doesn't think about fish at 3am? 😆

"Stop Being Lazy" (because you probably aren't)

...See more Darcy here again with some random stuffs no one asks but would like to share. There could never be too much knowledge ya know. I believe there is comfort in knowing rather than not knowing. I am inexplicably terrified of the unknown, and it grows my need to know everything and anything. Sometimes just knowing things, and how it explains you helps. Laziness 🫩 Ever been called lazy because you didn't pick up your clothes or wash the dishes? It feels awful, doesn't it? But Laziness is not what we think it is. What we call lazy is just a symptom, not a personality trait. The 'lazy' is not you, it's just how your brain wired as a human. Laziness could be: 1. 🔃 A Personality Trade-Off In The Big Five of Personality Traits [https://www.simplypsychology.org/big-five-personality.html] (clickable), Conscientiousness measure how organized someone is. Having a low score of it isn't a flaw or a defect. While having a high score is great for finishing chores, it can make people rigid. Having a low score simply means you aren't obsessed with order, making you more spontaneous and creative. It's a trade-off. By not being obsessed with order or piling everything to neat files, you have knack on being in the moment and more open to new, messy ideas. 2. ⚡Energy Conservation Evolutionarily, "laziness" was a survival skill. If our ancestors burned 3,000 calories chasing a squirrel they didn't need, they might starve later. Our modern brain is still programmed to conserve energy. If a task doesn't have an immediate, tangible reward, your brain might categorize it as "useless." 3. 🎭 "Masked" Laziness For many, laziness is just a mask for what they're actually experiencing: * 🔥Burnout: Your body battery is at 0%, making every task feel like a thousand-pound effort. * ❌ Fear of failure: If you don't try, you can't fail. Fear is one of the biggest things that hold us back. * 😖 Anxiety/Depression: A weight that makes moving a limb feels like lifting a car. The Test The easies way to tell if you're being lazy or overloaded is asking yourself "Am I enjoying this rest?" * If yes: you are leaning to leisure, and want to make time for yourself, which is totally okay.  * If no (you feel guilty, anxious or stressed): you are experiencing difficulty in making your brain function properly. 💭 TL;DR: Why aren't you "just lazy" Being as they call "lazy" isn't a character flaw or a moral failure. It’s actually one of three things * The Big Five: Low Conscientiousness isn't a flaw, it's a trade-off for creativity and spontaneity. * Survival Skill: Evolutionarily, your brain conserves energy unless there’s a clear, immediate reward. * The Mask: What looks like laziness is often Burnout, Anxiety, Depression or Fear. * The Test: If you aren’t enjoying the rest, you aren’t lazy. You’re blocked. 👉 The takeaway: Instead of fighting your body/brain, start listening to it. Your "laziness" might just be your brain trying to tell you it needs a different kind of support. ------------------------- What’s one thing you’ve been beating yourself up for avoiding lately? ------------------------- Series of random stuffs and random knowledge at random times. Random 😁

Why Your Listener Might Not Feel Right (And Why That's Okay)

...See more Hi, Darcy here. I honestly don't know which Community a post like this. The best one would be Listener-exclusive one there Listener tips here, but I feel like this is going to benefit everyone. Whether you're on a Listener or Member account, anyone could need support or want to support.  I just wanna share my thoughts. I've been using my Member account for a few weeks now, and talked to some Listeners for variety of needs and support. I'm sharing this in hopes to help both Members feel supported and Listeners have the tools to support through what I've experienced. Ever feel like you're talking to a listener but you're just not vibing with them? It might not be they're bad at listening, it might just they have a different Listening Style than what you need right now. Here are Styles I've noticed: 1. Emotional * What they do: They focus on reflecting your feelings. They say things like "That sounds so painful" or "I can feel how tired you are" * Best For: When you need to vent, cry or want to feel like someone gets your pain without trying to fix-it. * Listener tip: Avoid the Sorry Loop, saying sorry for every negatives they say. Try describing how they feel back to them.  2. Analytical * What they do: They focus on facts. They might try to challenge your thoughts. They might say, "You said nobody likes you, but what about that person who invited you out?" * Best For: When your thoughts are spiraling and need someone to reality-check your thoughts. They aren't being mean, they're trying to help you find an exit. * Listener tip: A quick "That sounds like a lot to handle" makes your questions feel like help rather than an interrogation. 3. Passive Supporter * What they do: They give you the space to talk. They might not do much, but they are there.  * Best for: When you have a big story to tell and get it out of your system. * Listener tip: Use continuer phrases so they know you're still there. Even a simole "Go on" keeps the connection alive without interrupting their flow. For Members: If you know what you need, it would be beneficial to tell your listener. A simple "I need to vent, and comfort" or "I need another perspective on this situation" For Listeners: There isn't just one way to be a good supporter. Even if you have a main style, it could be help to try other ones for some situations. ------------------------- I was thinking to put this on a Listener-exclusive Community Forum, but I think this awareness could be helpful for everyone involve. This is not a rule of what anyone should do. It's just information of what I've noticed and these helped me get support I needed as a Member, and learn what I needed to give better support as a Listener. And I hope it helps some of you too.

Your Reminder That You Can Step Forward

...See more Hi everyone, I wanted to share a thought on something we all need: Faith. Often, when we hear that word, we think of religion. And while it is certainly part of many faiths, the core concept of having faith is something much more universal and deeply personal. It's the key to unlocking ourselves when we feel stuck. The Problem of the Unknown How often do we find ourselves frozen? We get caught in a cycle of pain, problems, or struggle, not because we lack the ability to move, but because the fear of the unknown is greater than the courage to step out of it. We become paralyzed by "what if?" ✨ What Faith Truly Is Faith isn't about blindly walking into nothingness. It is the powerful mindset that gives us hope that there is a light waiting for us; that somewhere out there, there is an opportunity or a life that is better than what we have right now. 💜 It's the quiet belief that you can handle whatever comes next. 💜 It is the courage to keep searching for solutions. With faith, we don't just step into the darkness, we step into it with confidence. No matter the source, Faith is our undeniable strength to take that first, vital step into the unknown. Let's remember to hold onto that hope today. You are strong, you are capable, and you deserve to take a step toward better things. Wishing everyone peace and strength today.

Have you Checked Yourself in the Mirror Lately? 🪞

...See more If you haven't, this is your sign. Take a moment to look in the mirror and see yourself through the lens of someone who knows you best—that's ✨ you ✨, of course. Some people in ourselves can be quite cruel. They say things that put us down and let that icky self-doubt creep into our minds. It's easy to take negativity as fact when there's no one else to say otherwise. But sometimes we forget we have the very best person to see the best in us, and that's ourselves. So, stand in front of that mirror today. Really 🌟see the beauty that is you. Appreciate who you are, and what you have become 🌟 What's the best thing you see in yourself?

The Potato 🥔🍠🍟 And the Not Potato 🍦🍕

...See more Potatoes 🥔 – They can be so many things: mashed, baked, fries, even chips. The possibilities are endless ✨ Potatoes are many people's favorite. Yay for carbs and their endless variety. But every now and then, you might want something not potato. It’s great to love potatoes, but that doesn't mean you can only want potatoes. Sometimes, it’s easy to fall into a potato rut. We get stuck in a cycle where we’re eating potatoes just because they’re there—not because we really want them. And while potatoes are great, too many can leave you feeling… well, a little too starchy. It’s okay to take a break and eat something less potato. Treat yourself to some ice cream or pizza! You don’t have to keep eating potatoes just to please anyone, or because it’s comfortable, or because that’s what everyone expects. Life’s not just about what’s on your plate, but ✨ what feels right for you ✨ You deserve variety, balance, and the freedom to enjoy your carbs in whatever form you choose. So, cheers to potatoes—and to knowing when it’s time to step away and try something new! ⭐ What is your potatoes, and when was the last time you gave yourself permission to skip them to enjoy your scoop of ice cream and slice of pizza? 🥔💜
