As a school leader in Nigeria, I learned that grades only improve when people feel heard first. When my students’ pass rate was low, I didn’t start with tutoring — I started listening. One girl finally shared that family illness was affecting her studies. By providing confidential support and connecting her to resources, she went on to earn 8 credits. That experience, plus supervising 40 staff through workplace stress, taught me that empathetic listening creates the safety people need to grow. I’d be honored to offer that same non-judgmental space to 7 Cups members.
