...See more I wrote this poem as a parody to Langston Hughes’ Mother to Son. I was in middle school at this time which was my first ever introduction to poetry as we were taught a poetry unit at school (2010-2012). I consider this my first poem I’ve written. Thanks for reading my poem:) ------------------------- Sister to Sister (Parody) written by me Well Sis’, I’ll tell you: Life for me has been quite a fantasy. It's had evil villains, And super heroes, And kings and queens, And those you learn to respect- - Your majesties. But all along l'se been a-believin' on, And searchin' for prince charmin' And chasin' my dreams, And sometimes thinkin' of the world Where there's a Happy Ever After. So sis', don't you stop believin' Don't you stop chasin' your dreams 'Cause you find it's kinder dumb. Don't you ever stop now- - For I'se still thinkin', lil sis' l'se still believin' And life for me has been quite a Fantasy  ------------------------- Mother to Son  Langston Hughes  Well son, I'll tell you: Life for me ain't been no crystal stair. It's had tacks in it, And splinters, And boards torn up, And places with no carpet on the floor- - bare But all the time I'se been a-climbin' on, And reachin' landin's And turnin' corners, And sometimes going in the dark Where there ain't been no light. So boy, don't you turn your back, Don't you sit down on the steps •Cause you finds it's kinder hard. Ode to Emotions

...See more I wrote this poem almost a decade ago in high school (2013-2017).  I broke the convention of odes being made about inanimate objects. I wanted to write an ode to how mixed emotions shift and jumble and change. Enjoy!  ------------------------- Ode to Emotions Turn around and listen for the sound. Silence filling your mind. Yet, what emotions seem to combine? What do you hear?  Something you fear. What do you see when you close your eyes? Something you despise. What do you feel? Invisible wounds never healed. In the mind did you really think? How, with all the buzzing up above weigh you down; with the clashing forces making you sink, deeper and deeper until you, drown?  In the pit of your stomach are churning tides, where this powerful force storms on. Turn towards your inner guidance. Listen to its silence.  For sensations stimulate your heart are vulnerable, while secrets of the ocean are discoverable. What do you treasure? Everything I pleasure.  What do you say in the breeze? Everything I guarantee. What do you use to float? Words, when there is a chance to gloat.  In the heart, did you decide? Letting your thoughts cruise with love and passion on their side. In the pit of your stomach the mixed feelings subside, this powerful force waves goodbye. ...See more Hello I’d like to share my passion of origami and connect with other folders around the world here on 7 cups. I’d like to inspire others to give origami a try! I recommend YouTube videos and finding books and learning from diagrams.  ------------------------- A little about my username:  ------------------------- If you were wondering what my wish was it was health related centered around my mental health journey back in 2017. Fun fact I folded 1000 cranes twice actually the second time being during quarantine 2020 for a friend who had jaw surgery. If you wondered how long it took me around 4 months to complete. I also used a kit where the paper came with it.  ------------------------- p.s. if you got this far in my post thank you and most importantly Have Fun Folding :)
