Constant mind battles
Relationship Stress / by Dancingbear18

...See more HI feel I always pick the ones that have a lot of baggage and I help carry most of it with nothing but "love" in return. My previous relationships were only a one way street and I failed to see that until I completely lost myself. I didn't take care of myself like I used to, that hurt the most. I always had that mindset of " okay, we can fix this" when ever the baggage was getting to heavy or when it was a one way street, because that's what you're "supposed" to do when you love someone, right?. Well I was wrong in those past relationships but now I struggle with my constant mind battles of when is it okay to "fix it" or to put my foot down and put myself first. Me and my sweetheart are getting married next year and I feel we love each other so much because of what we do for one another and how we respect and love one another. He is an ex addict in recovery, hes about to graduate drug court here soon and I couldn't be more proud of him. We have a home together. We have pets that are like our children lol. But recently we have been at each other's throats. His family doesn't take him and his recovery into consideration like they should. It makes me so upset, because hes worked so hard and hes come so far. But he always makes an excuse for them. So frustrating. I dont want that past life for him or myself, I've never been an addict and I wont choose that life now just because I choose to be his wife. Should I put my foot down, or ride it out? Hes on the couch tonight.
