Bio
Hey there! Thanks for taking the time to read my little intro. Like other active listeners, I've been trained to try to really hear what you have to say and reflect it back to you in a way that might help. In my personal life, I'm constantly trying to better my understanding of communication + language, mental health issues, emotional ups-and-downs, and how to best relate to others to create real connection.
I'm a 30-something white, bisexual, cisgender woman; like many folks I spent my twenties learning how to build healthy boundaries with family members, how to initiate + maintain friendships (as well as healthfully end relationships that were no longer good for me), navigating debt + the reality of living paycheck-to-paycheck, dealing with general life-baggage from childhood (such as an alcoholic father), experiencing the loss of loved ones, parental divorce, and losing my religion (I grew up Catholic), gaining a better understanding of my people-pleasing tendencies + how to mitigate them, exploring what it means to be an introvert, working on social anxiety + a severe fear of public speaking, struggling with binge-eating, and learning to appreciate + love my body and sexuality (to name a few things)! Though I have become very comfortable in my own skin over the years, I am definitely still working on all of the above. If you struggle with any of the same issues - I have learned a lot on my journey and would be happy to lend an ear.
And now for some random fun facts:
I work with dogs.
I have litter-box trained house rabbits.
I'm vegan.
I am awed by and celebrate the beauty of the natural world, and the mysteries of the universe.
I'm an atheist, a skeptic, and I don't believe in the supernatural.
I love art, roller skating, bullet journaling, learning about different cultures (especially their food and mythological storytelling), and reading.
I just started a meditation practice.
I'm interested in intersectional social justice and continually strive to be a more effective activist against white supremacy.
I strive to be open-minded, nonjudgmental, and believe that we all are on our own path and are deserving of peace, happiness, pleasure, and a life free of pain and suffering.
Ask me to tell you a joke - I may make you roll your eyes, but I won't disappoint!
