...See more Hey!!! I know a lot of people kind of need some support and don’t really know how to get it. I thought I might share some coping skills I use. I really enjoy listening to music and would be honored if any of you guys could share your music recs. My playlist may or may not already be almost 24 hours long but there’s always room for more songs! Another thing I find really helpful is writing poems. They don’t have to be good. They can even be a few lines. Or they can be hundreds of words. Either way, it might just help. Writing your ideas in paper and giving them a sort of rhythmic feel just helps sometimes. The most troubling topic for me lately has been realizing I’m growing up and although I have cried for many nights, writing poems about it (I have actually written about ten on the topic of growing up ngl) has helped me so so so much. I thought that if anyone else is going through a lot of change and need something relatable, this might help. BEWARE: I wrote this at two in the morning after a bit of a breakdown so don’t expect to be that great lol. I also don’t have a name for it and was wondering if any of you have any suggestions. Ok, here it is. High school We’re going there next year Some of us one place, Others in another We’ve known this for basically our whole lives We’ve known this was coming We’ve waited so long for this We’ve wanted this forever But it seems foolish to now When we were kids,  And played on the playground, We would play family And always argued over who got to be the teenager Who got to go to high school And act all grown up  How naive we were. We didn’t know how much we would miss being a kid: Miss pretending And playing  And falling  but getting back up like it was nothing  Miss catching fireflies in the backyard Jumping in leaf piles or snow banks  But high school is almost here now, And it doesn’t seem real I don’t want to grow up. Not yet. I’m barely a teenager. I’m still a kid at heart. We’ve been preparing since kindergarten  Learning 2+2 equals 4 And our ABCs And times tables And long division, And multiplication But now  We learn to memorize formulas Theorems use calculators Now, We have actual grades, tests,  essays, finals, homework, clubs all of it But it’s not really real, is it? When we look for colleges, And colleges look at us,  And our grades And essays And finals  And extracurriculars. They don’t see our grades now, Or our essays, Or finals Or clubs, So, it doesn’t matter to them? The effort? The sleepless nights? The years we’ve spent preparing? The years we could’ve spent laughing. Spent having fun. Spent playing. Spent being a kid. Doesn’t it matter? We wasted our time being adults When we should have just been kids. Don’t our sacrifices matter? If they don’t, then what was it all for? In less than 90 days, We will be in high school  Some of us will be separated  No matter how close you are We will meet new people Have new classes New teachers Basically new everything It’s scary And fast. It will happen no matter how much we hate it And it doesn’t feel real, Not yet But it’s kind of exciting: The anticipation  The whole concept of basically starting over I miss being a kid But I’m not an adult  Not yet I can only hope That High School doesn’t take that from me Thank you so much for reading this!! I hope it maybe gave you a little bit of closure or relief or relatability. If not, that is 100% ok!! Again thank you!!! I love you all no matter what❤️❤️
