...See more My partner isnt sure if he wants to have kids. I am 29 and he is 28. We are just over 5 years into our relationship, where throughout he hasmentioned wanting to have kids. I have whole heartedly grown up knowing my purpose in life is to become a mother and have a family. I have been very open about this from the beginning, and up until now he hasnt shown me that this wasnt in his future. Since hitting the 5-year mark he has opened up and said he now isnt sure. He had been thinking this for at least the past 6 months but unsure how to tell me. Its not something he can categorically say isnt in his future, but he cant see it in his immediate future. In his words he is ‘freaking out about the future. I just dont know what to do with this information. There are a few other factors at play which are testing our relationship ie. Living with his mum, we have been under financial pressure and both starting brand new jobs. All those factors are in the process of bettering themselves, the big underlying issue is if he wants kids. I dont want to try and ‘convince him by any means. I do believe, deep down he does want a family and is scared. I grew up in a very ‘rose coloured glasses family, not privileged by any means but I had a very good upbringing. His, was not as easy so I believe that is playing on his mind. Money is always a factor and he would like to know that we wouldnt struggle if we did make the decision to have kids. I'm now considering moving out and giving him space for a month to hopefully allow him to really think about what he wants for his/our future.
