Staying Open When It’s Hard: Lessons from Uncomfortable Conversations
IDG 7 Cups Hub / by ImGolu

...See more Openness is easy when we agree. The real test is how open we are when someone challenges our beliefs or offers a different perspective. I used to get defensive, especially when I felt criticized. It felt personal, like a threat to my identity. Lately, I’ve been practicing a learning mindset—treating each conversation, even difficult ones, as an opportunity to grow. This doesn’t mean I agree with every opinion, but I try to stay curious instead of closed off. One powerful question I’ve learned to ask is, “What can I learn here?” That simple mindset shift has helped me grow in ways I didn’t expect. The IDG framework emphasizes this openness as a vital skill, especially in times of division and change. It’s not always easy, but it's essential. Have you ever had a moment where staying open—especially when it was difficult—led to a surprising insight or breakthrough? What helps you remain open and curious when your beliefs are challenged? I’d love to hear your thoughts.

The Power of Pausing: My Journey into Self-Awareness
IDG 7 Cups Hub / by ImGolu

...See more Self-awareness is often seen as the foundation of all personal growth. For me, it started when I noticed how often I reacted to situations without truly understanding my own internal state. Through meditation and journaling, I started to see patterns in my emotions, my triggers, and how my upbringing influences my responses. One key realization? I was operating on autopilot more than I thought. Becoming aware of this gave me the power to pause, reflect, and choose my response instead of reacting impulsively. This small shift has transformed my relationships, especially at work and in difficult conversations. The IDG framework identifies self-awareness as a core skill for sustainable development—and it makes sense. If we aren’t aware of ourselves, how can we lead, collaborate, or contribute meaningfully to others?  I’m curious—have you ever experienced a moment when a deeper sense of self-awareness shifted the way you handled a situation? What practices or habits have helped you stay connected to your inner world? I’d love to learn from your experiences.
