Bio

When I was a teenager, I witnessed my grandmother battle cancer for several years. I deeply admired her strength, positivity, and determination to keep fighting. This experience had a profound impact on my life and inspired me to persevere, even when facing my own challenges.

I have ADHD and have experienced anxiety and depression, which has given me a personal understanding of how emotional struggles can affect an individual’s life. These experiences have helped me develop empathy, patience, and the ability to listen without judgement.

I am currently a third-year Psychology with Counselling student. Prior to this, I completed a counselling course where there was a strong emphasis on self-reflection and self-awareness. This enabled me to better understand my values and recognise how my personal experiences can influence my interactions with others.

During my university studies, I have also participated in extensive role-play sessions focused on developing counselling skills, particularly active listening and self-observation. These experiences have been highly formative and have strengthened my ability to support others in a thoughtful and reflective way.

In my free time, I enjoy practising yoga and going on hikes in nature, as I find these activities grounding and beneficial for my mental wellbeing. I believe maintaining this balance is important in being able to support others effectively.

Overall, I believe that my academic background, personal experiences, and commitment to self-awareness allow me to offer compassionate, non-judgmental, and supportive listening as a volunteer with 7 Cups.

...See more For the second one: Connectedness is an important skill because it reminds us that meaningful relationships are a major part of emotional well-being and personal growth. Recently, I’ve been reflecting more on my friendships and relationships and realized that many of them have felt somewhat superficial. Although I spend time with people and enjoy social interactions, I noticed that I often struggle to fully open up, be emotionally vulnerable, or maintain deeper connections over time. At first, this realization felt discouraging, but it also helped me better understand what I truly value. I realized that I genuinely crave deeper and more authentic relationships where people feel comfortable sharing honestly, supporting each other, and being emotionally present. Instead of seeing this as something negative, I now view it as motivation for growth. Becoming more connected with others starts with learning how to be more open, consistent, and emotionally available myself. This reflection also made me realize that connectedness is not only about having many relationships, but about building relationships with trust, understanding, and mutual effort. I want to become more intentional about maintaining friendships, expressing appreciation for people I care about, and allowing myself to connect more deeply without fear of judgment or rejection. Discussion Questions: * What does a meaningful connection or friendship look like to you? * What are some challenges that prevent people from forming deeper relationships?

...See more Self-awareness is an important skill because it helps us better understand our thoughts, emotions, habits, and behaviors. Over time, I’ve learned that becoming more introspective and observing myself honestly helped me recognize patterns in my life that I previously ignored. Through reflection, I began to realize that many of my struggles with focus, productivity, overthinking, and emotional regulation were connected to ADHD. This self-awareness eventually encouraged me to seek a diagnosis. Getting diagnosed helped me understand myself in a much healthier way. Instead of constantly judging myself for being “lazy,” “disorganized,” or “not good enough,” I started to have more empathy and patience for myself. Self-awareness allowed me to separate my struggles from my self-worth and focus more on growth rather than self-criticism. I still have challenges, but understanding myself better has made it easier to seek support, develop healthier habits, and approach myself with more compassion. It also helped me realize that growth becomes easier when we understand ourselves instead of constantly blaming ourselves. Discussion Questions: 1. Has self-awareness ever changed the way you viewed yourself or your struggles? 2. How can we practice self-awareness without becoming overly self-absorbed?
