...See more I want to share some observations about my relationship with my sisters—not to label anyone, but to explain patterns I’ve noticed and how they’ve affected me. One of my sisters often acts in ways that feel manipulative or competitive toward me. For example, growing up she sometimes seemed to adopt aspects of my personality, my friendships, or even interest in people I dated. As we became adults, these behaviors continued and have even caused challenges in my romantic relationships. Another sister can be mean and show jealousy, but her behavior hasn’t caused the same level of damage. I feel hurt and frustrated because when I bring up these patterns, she denies them or makes me feel like I’m overreacting. I also feel unsupported because my family often encourages forgiveness without acknowledging how her actions affect me. I’ve learned to keep some distance from her to protect my emotional well-being. Right now, I focus on my children and personal life, and I try to maintain healthy boundaries when interactions become tense or competitive. Sometimes she gives compliments or seems genuinely kind, but I also notice moments of jealousy or competition behind the scenes. This inconsistency makes it hard for me to feel a close, authentic bond. If it weren’t for me, we might not have been in each other’s lives for so many years. I’ve made efforts to maintain a connection, but now we’re not speaking again because she hasn’t changed and continues to act in ways that hurt our relationship. I see strong patterns in her behavior that make it very difficult to have a healthy, mutual bond.
