About
Reaching out is hard. We all have moments when we struggle. Sometimes the messiness of life feels like too much. Connection to ourselves and others is what keeps us grounded, even though it can feel really scary and vulnerable.
When I talk with clients, I tell them that my only rule is to learn to give ourselves permission to feel like stuff is hard. And when we work together, we will focus on your strengths, individual needs and what challenges you face. We might talk about your experiences in your family of origin, and how they have influenced the choices you make in your life. If you are feeling stuck, then we can find the path toward getting un-stuck. Communication skills and how to advocate for yourself are also topics that might come up. Simultaneously, you will learn how to validate and hold all the feelings that come up.
My style as a therapist is very interactive. I believe that the best way for us to travel on this journey together is to engage in conversation. We will get in there and talk about what is really going on. Sometimes it will be uncomfortable, but that means we are getting somewhere. I want you to tell me what you think about the process. My goal is to get you thinking about YOU and YOUR needs. I ask questions, give suggestions, and tell stories that hopefully will help you to understand why you do what you do.
