Feature Update: Quote reply in chats

...See more All, this is an update we're really excited about. In 1-1 chats and group chats, you can now do a quote reply! This is where you can select a specific message to reply to, and then your reply includes a short visual of the message you replied to. Thats probably not the simplest description... so instead, I encourage you to try it out for yourself.  This update is only on the website for now, but we will be bringing it to the mobile app soon.  Using quote reply makes it easier for supportive conversations to flow - as all participants can better understand when a message is referring or replying to something or someone specific. Its a feature widely used on many messaging platforms.  To give it a try, click the backwards arrow underneath a message. We hope you find this a helpful update.

...See more Just a quick note that we've fixed the Noni reminders bug. I know this one was troubling many of you. You can now edit or remove your Noni reminders as you'd like. There was also a timestamp issue in your Noni chat that cropped up which has also been dealt with.
Feature Update: A new community page

...See more The most important thing about 7 Cups is the community - all of you. This community of listeners, members and therapists helping each other is rather special. But we still receive feedback that it can be hard to navigate the community or to find your place in it. There are many aspects to this (better search please!) and we can't solve it all at once. An improvement that we've been working on is exploring how to elevate the most important aspects of the community and make it easier to dive into.  This has lead us to the development of a new community page for the website that will replace the forum homepage. This community page keeps all the forum elements that were there already (lists of communities, feeds of content, guidelines, search) and sprinkles in a few more things that have been requested.  For members, the additions are a carousel highlighting the browse listeners page (how many times have you recommended that page to a newbie that didn't know about it?), a new route into the chat queue (with info on wait times), a live updating list of facilitated group discussions and the recently developed community updates module.  For listeners, many of the same elements plus a carousel highlighting available mentors. Increased visibility of the mentor programme is something that has been widely discussed.  Change is never easy, and I'm sure this will be no different for some of you. If you'd like to take the new page for a test run before it goes live in the next few days, feel free to PM me.
Feature Update: Statuses coming to a profile near you

...See more Wanted to let you know about a feature update that will be released later today or tomorrow. This one was actually inspired by some feedback from @Fradiga so thank you!  Recently, quotes were added to profiles on the website (you can add a quote from your settings page and it is displayed underneath your profile picture). We are now evolving quotes into statuses (but you can still use it for a quote if you prefer) and that status/quote will also be displayed on your profile rollover (what you see when you hover on someone's profile picture).  This means that you can let other users know handy info like when you tend to be online, what types of support you are looking for/provide or (probably the best use) a one liner/quote that shares a bit more about who you are. For this to work, we will have to impose a character limit on statuses/quotes so some users will need to update and shorten theirs. If you still want to share longer quotes, you're free to do so in the bio section in your profile. The character limit is being finalised and I'll share that soon.

...See more A couple of long requested updates went live overnight. Also, we're aware of the chat message preview issue (its related to trying to fix the symbols bug) and should hopefully be squared away later today.  * The list of guided discussions taking place in group chats now includes the name of the room it is taking place in (click "Live guided discussions" when in group chat on the website) * Featured forum threads are back in the notifications bell on the website * The text explaining what type of profile picture to use has been changed  Have a good day!
Bug fix: Profiles symbols issue

...See more I know many of you have been affected by the symbols and emojis issue across the site. This is where weird characters/symbols have replaced emojis, text or formatting. This bug snuck in as part of a routine system update last week and our tech team have been working hard to fix it. The good news is that this bug has been fixed across forum posts, about sections in forums and in your journals.  A tricky one to fix is where it has occurred in profile pages. To fix this one, we will be reverting all profiles to how they were on Friday 6th October last week. Any changes you may have made to your profile since then will unfortunately be lost. I do apologise for this, but its the only way to remove the bug from all profiles. If you have made changes, I recommend you copy and save these changes off site so you can bring them back after the fix.  If you are a new user and joined 7 Cups after Friday the 6th, your profile will be unaffected.  This update/fix is expected to take place tomorrow on Friday 13th October. Wish us luck that it goes ok! I will post an update here once it is completed.  [Update, 13 October: The profile fix rollout has been complete. You should now be able to use and edit your profiles as normal]
Feature Update: Adding your forum posts to your profile

...See more A common request we receive is to make it easier to find your own forum posts. So soon we will be adding your historical forum posts to your profile. This is already live for listener profiles on the website (e.g. click on my profile above to see my historical posts) and will be made live for member profiles in the coming days too. When listeners try to support a member, its helpful for them to know more context about the member. Likewise, when a member is receiving support from a listener, its helpful to know more about that listener. Thats why profile pages are some of the most popular parts of the site. Adding your historical posts to your profile makes it one step easier for all users to get better context and understanding. Right now if you're looking for a user's forum posts, you have to use forum search - a slower and more cumbersome way to find the context you need to help someone. I hope this update will make just a little bit easier to connect with someone else and provide/receive support.
Feature Update: Profile pages

...See more As mentioned, we’ve been working hard behind the scenes to update profile pages on the website (coming soon to an app near you!). Profiles are really important, particularly for a mental health community. Its a place to express ourselves and how we form connections with each other - which makes it easier to lift each other up. 7 Cups has evolved a lot over the last few years and our profile pages haven’t kept up with many of the new features. This update is focused on bringing profiles in line with the rest of the site and in harmony with the many different things you can do on 7 Cups. We’ve also received many suggestions and feedback over the years - which we’ve compiled and reviewed, and has influenced how we’ve designed and built the new pages. We hope to do more with profiles in the future 🙏. So whats in this update? The layout now reflects the 3 column approach we use for much of the site. The benefit of this is you can see most a of users profile on larger screens without scrolling. The central profile section focuses on your key data - streaks, points and level - and we’ve tried to make it easy and quick to read. The badges section now also includes a counter so you can see how many badges a user has. The biggest change is when you go to your own profile. There is now a private section that only you can see which is the home for your journal and activity timeline. The activity timeline tracks most of the key therapeutic activities you can do on the site, along with your assessment data (e.g. PHQ9 or flourishing measures) and previous journal entries. Our hope is that with greater visibility of your own data and behaviour, will come greater understanding of what most helps you. In future updates we would like to add a space for pinning your favourite quote and maybe the ability to customise some of the colour of your profile. Also a little warning that we will eventually need to strip back the coloured text I know many of you love using - it makes profiles hard to read for those with eyesight problems (and it doesn’t translate to the app well) and we want the platform to be inclusive for everyone. The new profiles should be released this week and we hope you like them!
