Bio
For me, listening is mostly about making a space where you can share anything that's on your mind without judgment or constraint. Supporting you as you work towards your goals helps me feel better connected and helps give meaning to life for me!

I enjoy reading, riding my bike, and playing my ukuleles. I hope we can all connect more authentically and break down some of the barriers that isolate us. I'm happy to listen to whatever you need to say.

...See more If I add an external link [https://google.com] to a site we should mark it for the search engines as "no follow" so there is no advantage to spamming us that way....
Wait, we can paste in pictures?

Introducing Christina!

...See more So.... I have mentioned a few time recently that I have a lot of catching up to do. A few weekends ago I got almost entirely caught up on old PMs and notifications (yay!). I still have emails to respond to, some from months ago! as well as bug reports, tasks, etc., etc. Along the way I have been meaning to update everybody on the product team here at 7 Cups and our newest (but not really "new" since she joined late last year) addition, Christina Sheldon (aka @SnugglyNarwhal)! Those of you who were around last all may remember Kiell, my product intern who did a cool diary study with the teens and also helped design the EARS app. She contributed a lot in just a few months and then, as interns sometimes do, she got a chance to take a full-time job in her home town on a big team of designers and information architects where she could learn a lot and see her co-workers every day. She took that job with our blessing and we then reached out to another promising intern candidate, Christina. So late last year Christina came on board as my newest apprentice, learning product management and user experience strategy & design, from me, and also how this unique organism of a project actual works, from everyone here. Christina has been hard at work ever since, mostly behind the scenes, and I've had this task called "introduce Christina to the community" sitting on my task list ever since :\ We're finally updating our team page again this provided just the unicorn-hoof self-inflicted kick to the pants needed for me to send out this message I've been meaning to for so long. In just a sec I'll share Christina in her own words and let you all welcome her in that warm way we do around here, but first I just wanted to say that Christina has been an amazing apprentice, assistant, partner, and leader, already. She learns so fast it's incredible and she takes on responsibilities eagerly. I am so happy to have her on our team (along with Cris & Ezra, our senior software engineers, Heather our content strategist, and - spoiler - Zoran -- a developer working with us right now from Europe). Anyhow, without further ado, let me ask you to join me in welcoming (offically and long overdue) @SnugglyNarwhal [/@SnugglyNarwhal] Hello! Heres a little bit about me. :) I studied biology and geology at the University of Colorado at Boulder and earned a PhD in geoscience from Aarhus University in Denmark. I have always loved tech and, after my PhD, I wanted to change careers and work in a startup. Im a self-taught web developer and Im learning mobile app development. I currently live in Denver, Colorado with my two puppies (Charlie and Indy), who love to bark at the doorbell. (And the garbage truck. And the garage door.) I love reading, stand up paddleboarding, traveling, building mobile games, and going out for tapas. I am really excited to be a part of the 7 Cups team and I am happy that Im helping to make a positive difference in the world! (Krink here again: Yayyyyyyyy!!!)
Introducing Kiell, our new product design intern!

...See more Just a month or so ago I was talking to @glenM about how we could get more done with our product team, especially now that we have a third developer, Bilal, helping us, and he asked if an intern would make a difference. I said yes definitely! I love the apprenticeship model where someone who needs to learn and gain experience works side-by-side (or as close as you can do this online) with a senior person who can teach and share and explain the work as it comes. The apprentice takes on some of the workload and gets rapid experience in return. The mentor gets assistance and someone to help think through solutions with. Win-win-win! I reached out to my network and quickly heard from some very promising candidates. We did a series of interview and considered a few candidates very seriously before settling on the best fit, Kiell (@NorthShoreSwimmer). Kiell came highly recommended and had recently completed an intensive user experience research and design "bootcamp." She's been getting up to speed the past few weeks and I wanted to introduce her to the community, since the way we design and build 7 Cups has always been very much in collaboration with all of you. I am going to be asking Kiell to help out with many of our top priorities, among them some special projects with teens, which @Laura and @NorthShoreSwimmer will be sharing about soon. Please join me now in welcoming Kiell to the team and to the community, and if you see her in the forums or in group chat please be sure to say hello! Here is a little more about Kiell in her own words (once @laura puts up an alert for this thread tomorrow, @NorthShorewimmer should be around to reply and say hi back :D): Hi, I'm Kiell (pronounced "Kyle") and I'm super excited to be a part of this community! I'm working at 7 Cups part time as a User Experience Designer. My goal is to learn about the needs of individuals as well as the community in order to make the app and website better for the people that use it (that means you!) A little about me: in my free time I love traveling, writing, printmaking, riding my bike, and swimming whenever possible. I live in Minneapolis, Minnesota. P.S.: (Reminder) Kiell's listener username is @NorthShoreSwimmer

...See more Well... I just realized I doopidly posted this in a listener-only forum last week instead of this public one, so let me share this news a bit more widely and add a new mock to it as well: We have been listening to the feedback on the new community home design and we agree that right now it is not easy or convenient enough to get to the main Forums page. We are working on a tab approach somewhat like that of the subcommunities that I think will help balance all the design goals here. I am attaching a visual design (in progress) from Ryan, our designer. I just wanted to let folks know we're listening and we hear you on this point and we agree and we hope this will help.
My Listener Progress Path just told me to post in a subcommunity so here I am
