Advice Needed
Relationship Stress / by Lisaisherenow

...See more Hello everyone, I need advice on what is "normal/expected" when it pertains to romantic relationships. For context, I'm in my 20s, have only been in a few medium to long-term relationships, was raised in a staunch Catholic household, and come from a generally conservative/traditional background. I currently don't have anyone in my life to talk to about these issues/concerns, so decided to bring them to 7 Cups. To start, I have two questions. The first is about myself. Thus far in my relationships, I've only wanted to be intimate, initiated intimacy, or had any thoughts/desires of intimacy when I'm ovulating. Before that time of my cycle, my libido is very low to nonexistent. All I want is to kiss and be kissed, cuddle and emotionally connect with my partner. This usually lasts for about 21 days of the month. For the 7 days of my ovulation, I want to be intimate multiple times a day and sometimes all day. At first, I thought nothing of it, I didn't scrutinize myself in that way and just "went with the flow". But when I think back on it, every one of my exes thus far has pointed it out and I've begun to question whether or not it's "normal". I've done some googling and haven't gotten any real clarity on this. Is it normal or not? The second is about men, (PS: I don't think all men are the same but would like to have some external insight on this.) On the other end of things, all my exes have wanted intimacy and initiated intimacy consistently throughout the month. It would usually be first thing in the morning, a few hours after returning home from work/Uni, and then again sometime in the middle of the night when either of us would wake up to go to the bathroom. I noticed this and assumed it was because I was dating a young guy at the time. He had a lot of free time and wasn't outgoing, so I thought it made sense. However, the next guy I dated was around my age, and had more responsibilities and work stresses but a similar pattern emerged. Then after him, I ended up dating a guy much much older, who was consistently busy, worked almost all day, and survived on caffeine alone but a similar pattern emerged AGAIN! Now I don't know and am confused. Is this normal? Am I the one being weird about this? Is this what I should expect in romantic relationships? Help!
