...See more I have been struggling in pain since my guy friend and I parted ways. We were never in any romantic relationship but we were becoming close friends. I am writing here to get a sense of what may have happened between us. My friend is extremely shy. He told me his parents had divorced when he was a kid and his mother left him. He lived with his father who neglected his needs, left him home alone to fend for himself when he was growing up. Then, his father brought home a new woman and sent my friend off to boarding school. The two of us started off as classmates and I thought he was truly becoming my best friend. He seemed considerate of me and remembered everything I would say or do. But he was also very distant, cold. Sometimes, he would not respond to my texts. Or, he would not invite me over to his place. I was under the impression that he was falling for me... he would gaze into my eyes yet look conflicted bc he wanted to come closer to me but he wouldn't or ccouldn't. He also never liked to talk about emotions, got stiff when I would hug him, and would never initiate holding hands with me. He would also send me very mixed signals -- he asked me if I would one day invite him to my wedding, or he would tell me that he wanted to buy me flowers but he would never follow through with it. We got into an argument and he told me never to contact him every again bc he was "scared." I honored his request. But he has been calling and texting me recently. I'm sad and hurt.
