I am a high school junior at a Catholic school in San Diego.  I play field hockey and softball and have played sports my whole life.  I love the beach and the outdoors.  I grew up going camping with my family lots of weekends throughout the year and have traveled to almost 20 national parks.  I have a younger sibling who has ADD and anxiety and OCD and I understand the struggles she goes through and help her with calming exercises with her anxiety. I love learning and school and love to read when I have free time.  I love my dog and think animals, especially dogs, are very therapeutic.  I am interested in a pre-med major in college, probably Psychobiology, and would like to be a surgeon if I can make it through the rigors of medical school with a focus on surgery. I am also interested in public health and research, and the intersection of mental health and current public health epidemics like homelessness. I founded a non-profit in my community called Backpacks Transform that focuses on providing backpacks for homeless youth and youth in transitional housing that are entering high school.  These backpacks have school supplies, tech supplies and hygiene items. This year we raised $5000 and supplied 65 fully stocked backpacks to entering freshmen in the San Diego Unified School District.  It was so rewarding and I am looking forward to raising funds to provide over 150 next year.
