Separate room for discussions?

...See more Hey, I have participated in MANY guided discussions, and I truly love them.  I have gone to both L only ones, and ones in the member rooms.  I was wondering if we might have a special room opened for discussions.  Yesterday, I attended the Depression support chat as a member.  Several folks in the chat weren't really interested in participating, and that disrupted things a fair bit.  Also, there was some spamming, another disruption.                          I have a couple ideas, aside from just a dedicated room.  One, we could make them member only.  We do tell people that members get more help, but aside from being able to save 1:1's, I am not sure what other benefits of a helping nature are available.  The guided discussions could be a member benefit.  It would also help to keep spammers and bots out. This would also hopefully ensure that everyone in the discussion is there to participate.  Another idea- sometimes the discussions (esp the L ones) get bogged down with all the greetings, and questions about the topic.  Could the dedicated room open with a pop up welcoming them to the guided discussion, informing them of the topic, and encouraging them to jump in and participate?   Thanks for reading.  :-)

Wow. After about ten minutes of asking some really, really good questions, Mickey made an analogy that was so perfect it just suddenly helped me see all the pieces fall into place. She listens and really pays attention. She clearly saw connections I have missed (and all my friends and family missed) because with one line, she just waved all the smoke and mirrors away and just like that, I knew what I need to do. I wish I had come here a year ago- so much struggle could have been avoided. She is brilliant. Mickey- thank you.

It is so refreshing to find a more mature voice on 7COT! MizMickey is patient, kind, thought-provoking, sincere, insightful, compassionate, supportive and even appropriately humorous at times - everything one could want in a great listener.
