...See more In September 2020, I almost died in a house fire. I was told that if I would not have found my way out of the house within 2 more minutes, I wouldn't have made it out. On top of that, it is a pretty common belief that my abusive ex who I had left almost exactly a year prior to the fire, set it. He was seen behind the house during the fire, but the investigation couldn't say it was arson, but couldn't rule it out either. Anyway, I was flown to a specialty hospital, intubated for 4 days for smoke inhalation and hospitalized for 6 days. Now, most days, I can't do normal daily activities without being out of breath due to the lung damage and likely not helped by the weight I gained while recovering. The feeling of not being able to breathe triggers flashbacks to being in the smoke filled house...which makes my anxiety awful. Hiking used to be my go to coping mechanism for anxiety. Now that causes anxiety because it makes me not be able to breathe. I'm currently laying on my couch tears because I was pulling weeds and doing yardwork with my fiance, which made me out of breath which triggered an anxiety attack. I'm so frustrated.
