...See more Hi, I just wondered if anyone suffers with the same problem as me. I have no idea if it's classed as anxiety, an eating disorder or PTSD. About 2 years ago I choked on some food while I was home alone and it was the most terrifying experience of my life. Ever since that day, I've never been able to eat properly or enjoy food. It takes me so long to eat dinner because I chew forever because I'm scared of choking again, and people always comment on this which makes it worse. Its like I forget how to swallow, and swallowing has become a manual process for me. There are times where I will get food to the back of my throat and "forget" how to swallow and a wave of panic goes over me. I am much worse when eating out I find it incredibly difficult, and I also feel worse if it's a cramped, loud space where I'm eating. I really struggle to eat in public too, and when there's a person talking to me I find the pressure of talking and eating too much. I've tried counselling but no result and can no longer afford it. it's so depressing to me and I feel like I wil never get over it please there must be someone who has suffered similar.
