Hi everyone! I'm a university student from Canada. I have struggled with stress and anxiety since I was younger, although it worsened since the start of the pandemic. I suspect that I may have depression, but I'm mostly experiencing loneliness and social anxiety. I hope to connect with others or an individual who will listen to my concerns.

...See more I just told my parents that I want to take off a semester in favor of finding a job or taking a break. I've been feeling immense stress, anxiety, and burnout. I feel that if I keep taking courses and going to school, my mental health is truly going to collapse. Unfortunately, my parents, who are Asian, believe in working hard and "persevering" through everything. They started comparing my situation to their college life, stating all of their accomplishments (such as beginning their careers at 21 years old; I'm 23) and telling me to keep attending school to graduate at a young age. My circumstances are much different from their lives in their early 20s, but they seem to think it's one and the same. I feel lonely, hurt, exhausted, and scared. I understand the need to graduate early, but I haven't properly taken care of myself in a long time. I want to breathe without feeling like I'm drowning in sorrow. I don't know what to do, where to go, or who to talk to. I'm lost... Life isn't as easy as my parents think it is.
