Am I just too picky?
Relationship Stress / by Sherribop

...See more Im almost 25, a virgin, never been in a relationship (except one thing in high school I don't count), and only been on one date (was a good date, but we lost interest). I'm bisexual, but closeted. I have social anxiety and I'm introverted. After reading an article about how having hobbies might turn people off [https://www.evanmarckatz.com/blog/dating-tips-advice/why-people-with-serious-passions-and-hobbies-make-the-worst-partners], I started overthinking (panicking). So much of my attraction to people (friendship or romantic), is based on shared interests & values. I still have a diverse circle of friends, and I have liked guys who don't share my hobbies (I love art, but I don't need my partner to be an artist). But ideally I think of a guy who would be willing to cosplay, play video games, go to museums, etc.with me. I don't actually do those things often, but they interest me, they're things to do outside of just restaurants and chatting. Likewise there are things that I'm not passionate about but would try with a partner (hiking, dancing, gym). A lot of my bonding occurs around activities or nerd stuff. I don't know what most people in relationships do together. I don't know what people with age gaps do if they're not into the same music, shows, memes, etc. I've always felt different and been treated as weird in my country, so I crave finding people who are like me. How can I get past this? Should I even get past it when I see examples of couples who do embody what I want in a relationship? so I KNOW they exist. It can't be that I'm too rare to be loved
