...See more First of, hi! I have used this site as an anon ~twice~ before, and I think I walked away...slightly better, maybe. Now, frankly, I am working my way through a behavioral addiction. And the fact that I no longer know how to make friends, and its going to take me a long ass time(...in the form of 3 to 8 months, I think?) for it to properly happen as my withdrawal settles and I can see the world through a more rational lens. I thankfully have amazing family for support, but they are busy as hell and can't always be there. ...and I know that I nonetheless need some kind of social support to finally properly get through this. So - my hope here, was as follows: That once a week, if I have found a good listener, I would just shoot the shit with them for a bit of time(as per their allowance, of course). Now the primary focus is on listening here on this site, but I guess what I need is a...well, a pen pal to talk about random stuff with? Here is what I wouldn't do, obvious, but mentioning nonetheless: Ask for any contact info(nor would I give mine under any circumstance), continue with a topic they do not wish to discuss(the entire point is lost then). What I *might* do if THEY are comfortable with it, but would not ever push on: Share a personal anecdote if they feel it can help. If I relapse, I might vent, but I would try not to do that. And I would try not to mention what I am addicted to, even though there is a support forum on this site for it(which I love, this addiction needs to be recognized). So yeah...mostly would just like someone I can talk about random stuff with, and occasionally vent to, is this acceptable? Like I said, I am unclear on this. Naturally, most here are volunteers, and I would not expect the world of anyone, and they would be told from the get go to let me know if anything makes them uncomfortable. Maybe what I learn from talking to peeps here will someday translate at least slightly into real world interactions. Those are more important, but right now, I can only reliably be myself online, and it takes more than a month of proper progress before I can be my normal self in reality. ...Uh, screw it, best to be as frank as I can here I suppose. Porn addict. I am terrified of admitting that, oh god. Please don't judge, if it was thirty years from now, and knowledge of this was common, I am the kid who would have never gotten into it or other drugs and been judged as the no fun allowed kid ok :( .... So uh. Please be blunt here. Because it would be way more awkward if I went to someone here and was like "So about Doctor Strange," and they were like "Just offering a shoulder to cry on, leave, you seeker of banter"(its obvious that's a joke, right...right?) I mean the latter would happen too. But hopefully not that often. ... Something tells me I might be doing the whole reaching out for help and to strangers thing and being open wrong, but you gotta start SOMEWHERE, yo!
