...See more My spouse suffers daily with severe chronic depression.  We have been together for 5 years and have 1 daughter together and may have another on the way.  At first I didn't understand, why did he always get like this all of a sudden angry and constantly negative with constant criticism it was like being with 2 different people. One who had a zest for life and one who just wanted to die and take the world with him.  He fears judgment and hatred, feels that no one cares and doesn't listen.  He suffers everyday.  I won't lie, being with someone with chronic depression has its challenges and I have gone through my times of frustration and just wanting him to "SNAP OUT OF IT!".  I know better now.  The stigma towards depression is terrible and wrong.  It is a struggle between demons and one little guy screaming at them to go away.  People ask me why do I stay and as they say " put up with it" ?  There is no putting up with it, people who suffer depression are survivors, each day they fight a battle internally  some days with the upper hand and others with a stake in their foot but each day they are still here and trying their best.  No one ever asks to feel that way, alone, worthless like everyone is better off without them.  I love my partner, even with his depression. Some days he doesn't get why  and wonders why I stay, Just like everyone else.  Even people with depression get pulled into the stigma.  There is always someone, who loves you and truly cares.  It can be hard to hear them through the internal conflict, and I know you are so tired.  You are awesome, you are worthy and you have something special and to somebody you are everything.
