Why do I feel completely disconnected with myself and reality and how do I bring myself back?

...See more This is my first post and I don't know if I'm posting in the right section. I've been suffering with depression for years and around the time I turned 18 I started feeling disconnected from reality, like nothing is real and I'm stuck on 'autopilot' . It used to only happen when I was feeling particularly down or stressed but now it has gotten to the point where I don't know when its happening, I don't know when I'm in myself and I don't really know who I am anymore. I feel like I don't even recognise myself in a mirror and if I was asked what I looked like I wouldn't know how to answer. I was just wondering if there's anyone who could help me understand what's happening to me and how to work towards feeling real again.
