A Sleepy ghost wearing headphones to hear your story.

The pressure of student life can be overwhelming, and sometimes you just need to vent or share what’s heavy on your mind. I’ve personally dealt with my own experiences related to anxiety and depression, and talking about how you feel helps you identify your concerns rather than just a vague fear.

I’m quite new to this, but if you need an empathetic ear without offering advice or judgement, I’m here!

Self-awareness and Self-regulation

...See more Recently, I felt like I was losing my grip on my internal world. I was experiencing terrible mood swings with a mixed feeling of irritation, anxiety, and heaviness. Without knowing the "why" behind them, I became hyper-sensitive to any unwanted stimuli like noise. I wasn't just feeling my emotions, actually I was being consumed by them. To regain control, I leaned into self-regulation through two specific ways. First, I started journaling, but with a specific structure. I created a table to map out what and why I’m feeling: * Stimulus: What exactly happened? (e.g., a specific tone of voice, a deadline). * Emotion: What did I feel? * Reaction: How did I behave? This actually helping me identify patterns I previously couldn't see. Secondly, I just started practicing this so it might not be perfect, but I’m trying to view the situation as if I were a "third wheel". Instead of saying "I am angry," I would think, "I am observing a person who is feeling frustrated because of something." By treating it like a story I was listening to a member on 7 cups, I think I would be helpful to remove the bias and to calm down. When you feel a strong emotion rising, what is one physical or mental cue you use to identify what you’re feeling? For example, I tend to cry when I’m MAD. I’ve already seen so many good tips on this forum! Maybe I should try some of those :)

From Indecisiveness to Preparedness

...See more Prudence means being careful about one’s choices; not taking undue risks; not saying or doing things that might later be regretted. For a long time, I considered my prudence as a weakness. I saw it as a source of chronic indecision, a cycle of over-analyzing every possible choice I have and obsessing over pros and cons until I felt exhausted before even taking action. I was so afraid of future regret that I became paralyzed by the "what ifs." I used to think I was just wasting time. However, through this course, I’ve recently had a shift in my perspective. I realized that this "extra" consideration has actually been my greatest protector, as a safety system. By looking at every angle, I wasn’t just being slow; I was building a safety net. My prudence allowed me to: * I am rarely caught off guard because I’ve already "played out" the accidental scenarios. * Comparing endless options taught me how to distinguish what is truly important from what is just noise. * When I finally make decision and act, I do so with a level of intentionality that others might overlook. Instead of hating this part of myself, I’ve decided to stop fighting my caution and start leveraging it. I’m learning to balance the "thinking" with the "doing," acknowledging that my careful nature isn't a hurdle—it’s my strategy for resilience. I’ve been trying to set a strict deadline to my ‘research phase’ to prevent listing every single choice. Is there a trait you currently dislike in yourself that might actually be protecting you or serving you in a way you haven't recognized yet?
