How do I know if medication is right for me?

...See more I've been feeling low for a while now. After overcome some numbness caused by trauma, I've realized that all the holistic methods I have tried don't seem to help much. I have been opposed to the idea of medication for a long time because I don't want to rely on it, have it taken away or be worse off mentally because of it. But I feel like it might need to be an option since talk therapy doesn't seem to work on it's own anymore. Any advice?

...See more Hi everyone, For a little background, I have been depressed and anxious for as long as I can remember.I struggle daily since I feel negativity looking over me, even on my happiest days. I'm currently not working due to my mental health as well as a recent cross country move and always feel guilty for taking care of myself, no matter how hard I try not to. I have trouble eating and getting out of bed everyday despite a loving girlfriend and having some supportive family a phone call away. I'm so tired of feeling bad so this community gives me hope.
