In my free time, I enjoy playing video games, watching movies and TV shows, exploring nature, and listening to music, especially Panic! At The Disco. I have a fascination with photography, and would love to explore night sky and macro photography in the future.

Self-Harm Recovery / by StarlightMelody

...See more Hello! I've never really posted here, or really anywhere on 7 Cups before. I have a lot of social anxiety, so I tend to just keep quiet in life and on the Internet. But, I just wanted to kind of come on here and celebrate a little for once. The beginning of this month marks three months since I last self harmed. And I just feel really proud about that. Back when I was self harming, it felt like something I'd never recover from. It felt like I was at the end of my life. It became such a constant thing, maybe like an addiction, I'm not even sure. When I first started it was to help control the overwhelming emotions that I was feeling. but as time went on, it became something I'd just do out of habit, while also using it to help control any overwhelming emotions. It's shocking how fast it progressed from something I did as a last resort, to something that I relied on to control my emotions. Especially since in total I only self harmed for a total of two months. But those two months felt so much longer than these last three months of healing have felt. But anyway, writing this out has been so nice. It's nice to actually get it out of my system. It just feels like proof of how far I've come and how much hard work I've put towards healing, not only mentally, but also the physical healing my body has had to do. The last three months haven't been easy by any means, but I actually feel like I'm making progress with my mental health for the first time in a long time. I feel like I actually have hope again. Thank you to whoever takes the time to read this 😊 I'm just gonna keep doing my best and continue on my healing journey.
