...See more Hello, I am 30 years old, I am an Army Veteran. While I was on duty, I met my current boyfriend online. We Skyped every night and developed a long term relationship. He would call me up on weekends and we would have a drink with eachother. This continued on for about a year. Somewhere along the line, I had discovered through an old post on his Facebook, that he was HIV positive. I had a choice to run but I did not. I chose to stick by him and maintain a magnetic relationship. which is defined as an HIV-positive and an HIV-negative man in a committed partnership together.... We eventually met and had safe sex for the first time. This was about 4 years ago, I am still HIV negative. As time went by, I realized that he was unhappy and scared of dying. Who wouldnt be? Hes currently 26 years old. He would drink hard every day and cry about how helpless he felt. I had also given in and got drunk with him every day. Recently, I have wanted to stop. And am currently sober, he had a bloating in his stomach, I took him to the ER and they said he has cirrhosis of the liver. I threw away all the alcohol in the house. He also has been sober for a week. Today, his family came and tried to conduct an intervention. As soon as he heard the opening lines of, We are all here because... he ran off into his room, slammed the door and refused to listen. He says he can stop on own without any type of counseling. How can I convince him to join me in counseling?
