Bio

Kevin. Thirty-something years old. Professional software engineer. I love to help others by listening and talking to them. I hope talking to me is helpful. I hope my work as a Listener helps people live happier and more successful lives.

I have experience with depression. Fortunately I am doing so much better now than I used to be. And now I don't seem to be depressed any more. It got me interested in therapy as a way of helping people improve their lives. Outside of 7cups, I am also passionate about software engineering, computers, and technology. I love writing code and building software. I also love listening to music, working out at home, playing piano, and watching basketball.

I live in the USA and I am in the Pacific Time Zone.

Bug in Status: Online, offline, busy

...See more Hi, I noticed two issues with the Online Status feature. These issues were not present before. They are a regression. The first is: It says I'm offline. Then when I select "Busy" or "Available" it doesn't change. It still says Offline. The second is: I sometimes get messages from Listeners asking if I am available to Listen to them. Even though I am not available at that time. Has 7cups leadership commented on these bugs? Is there a great software engineer working on it?
How is average wait calculated?

...See more I'd be curious to see the algorithm behind how average wait is calculated. Does it mean "How long you can expect to wait on average between joining the back of the line now and getting matched with a Listener?" Or does it mean, "How long have the people currently in line been waiting, on average?" Or what? The reason I ask is that I suspect the amount of time the average person spends in line is much longer than the listed average wait time.
Can I see old notifications? Where was the admin AMA?

...See more Usually when I log into 7cups there are a few notifications. For example, I saw a notification that said something like "Check out the responses from our Admin AMA". But I can't find that link anymore because I don't see old notifications. In social media sites I would be able to see old notifications. But on 7cups I feel like it's very easy to miss an old notification and never see it again. Does anyone know what AMA it was that I saw a notification about and what the link to it is?
