Hello! My name is Rachel and I believe through empathy, compassion, understanding, caring and listening are traits of a person on how to be the most helpful towards others in their times of need... Throughout my life, I have been through a lot of struggles... and points at which I felt like giving up. But because I did not give up that measured me into the person whom I am today. I am proud of myself for enduring a pain not a lot of people/families go through, and then overcoming it. But the battles are constant in life, and my goal if asked is to find a constant contentment in my life. All emotions come and go, you cannot always be angry, sad, anxious, energertic, happy... but! you CAN achieve a state of contentment. I want to ultimately reach that state of mind for the good rest of my life...I am still on the hunt for it. hehe :) going on, I believe that music can be very a healer/listener, it is theraputic and a good way to let out your emotions. it makes me extremely happy, but then one song may come on and i start crying my eyes out with my headphones on in the middle of downtown Chicago because of a memory brought back...that's just some of how powerful music can be... It is my biggest passion. and that's important... Find what you are passionate about! AND REMEMBER ALWAYS YOU TOO ARE CABAPLE OF OVERCOMING PAIN. Always remember, that no matter what you are going through, someone is right there with you. You are NEVER alone. <3 From the words of Elliot Eisner, “If the society is hurting, perhaps our first priority should be to alleviate the pain." Eisner, one of the great philosophers of Art Education. My last point, would be that I am an E m p a t h. . . So I feel for others, and try to make their pain lessen, to make them smile, to be positive and know that they are absolutely here for a purpose. No doubt. There is a duty for us to amend, Our society that is in pain. We must immerse ourselves in it, find pleasure in helping, supporting, and caring for other. Getting one step closer to alleviating the pain, heal/soften the wound, stop the bleeding, and Save a Life. I am passionate about mental health, support and understanding I am empathic, understanding, non-judgemental and compassionate towards so many of the people I come across, no matter where they have come from, and no matter where we both happen to be.
"We think we listen, but very rarely do we listen with understanding, true EMPATHY. Yet listening, of this very special kind, is one of THE MOST POTENT FORCES FOR CHANGE..." ~ Carl Rogers.
