The first time I came across the site in 2014, I had no plan to speak with anyone or to become a listener. As I browsed the listeners and actually tried it out, I became concerned with the lack of professionalism in comments made by members who receive training. Though I am not a professional in the area of counseling, I hold a MA in a social science and extensive experience doing Crisis Hotline Intervention. Additionally, I have professional/real-life training and experience in several areas: hospice/end of life care; AIDS/HIV education and treatment; depression; time management; gender issues. Because of these things and years researching and working in multiple countries caring for all kinds of people, I felt I was a good fit as an experienced listener. I am currently working on a doctorate. 

My style is caring and straightforward. The goal of this site is not therapy, though I can provide a caring and mature listening experience with productive feedback. Your experience is yours alone. How it will affect you and how much it determines your future is up to you. Good luck.
