...See more I’m new here so I thought I would share my story, I hope it can help someone. I’m a 19 year old girl with alopecia areota. I lost all of my hair in high school due to a stress disorder that also causes me to have severe depression and anxiety. I was diagnosed bipolar at 13 after multiple failed suicide attempts and habitual self harming. I took various medications from the time I was 14 up until December of last year. I have an alcoholic mother who neglected me as a child which resulted in giving me trust issues and compromising my ability to open up. I chose this forum because I have found that what helps me most is helping others. I’m currently in school to become a psychiatric nurse practitioner because I have a passion for listening and making a difference. Depression is not a disease that can be cured, only coped with. Some things that have helped me cope were writing, reading books, social interaction and gardening. What other kind of things do you like to do to distract yourself from negative thoughts?
